Nothing is ever “Free”. Especially when it comes from the Government.
Sorry I forgot to add my sacrastic emoticon… 🙄
“Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.”

Wonder what stage we’re in…

How about “right side” on a tank? Is that from the driver’s position or looking at it as if it may run you over?????
TEI think it means right as in “correct.” You know, you need to be on the correct side of the tank in order to find the cache? 😆
You do letterboxing, right? This is a perpetual frustration–people who use relative rather than cardinal directions!
On the Left Side of the Road...People who never learned from the adage “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” when logging caches and feel the need to pepper their logs with criticisms on the hide, container, placement, writeup, puzzle, attributes, etc. etc. etc.
ESPECIALLY when said people have thousands of finds but no hides of their own (or only the obligatory 1 or 2 or 3 hides to satisfy old seed cache requirements).

My next vacation will near some “dramatic” tides….this feature is gonna be awesome helpful…
Well then you my friend have the tools you need!

Oh I’m so excited about a feature I found on the 550. It has tide scheduals. Pick a spot on the map and it shows the time the tides will be high and low. It also shows water depth at all times in the area on a graph. It is very cool.
Are you hoping to pick the optimal time to approach a T5 somehwere?

I’m not even sure of the Boy Scouts even know exactly what they are doing or wanting to do. I hope it’s not one of those jump on the bandwagon sort of things. I hope they are consulting with some experienced cachers who been in this game for awhile.
You know as much about it as they do at this point. Here is the full text of the email I got back:
“To all:
Thanks for your response and interest in helping Bay-Lakes Council explore the possibility of engaging in geocaching. So far we’ve had good response from the note in The Guide and seemingly each day there is another expressing interest.
We want to give it a little more time and once we’re set, we’ll be back in touch to get the ball rolling.”

By the original description…”Would you be interested in helping Bay-Lakes Council establish geocaching sites to help promote Scouting and celebrate Scouting’s 100th Anniversary” it sounds a bit like commercialism.
Could be, or maybe they’re not intending to go through groundspeak but to do their own thing, or through another geocaching site. If they go to gc.com, remember anything would have to go through the review process to weed commercial stuff out. I mean, it’s not like groundspeak would ever do anything tied to a commercial product like Planet of the Apes movies or custom Whereigo programs that you have to purchase, right?
On the Left Side of the Road...I heard back from Mark Logemann, Scout Executive out of Appleton, who advises that things are still in the planning phase. They’ll contact people when they’re ready to get the ball rolling.
If you’re interested, his email is [email protected]. I normally wouldn’t post the email address but it is on the Bay Lakes Council website so it’s public already.
This might be a good outreach opportunity for the BOD as well.
On the Left Side of the Road...Also, not really a “useless” hint but more frustrating–not putting enough information on the cache page to solve a puzzle in the first place and then adding/changing hints over time to add necessary info. 🙄
On the Left Side of the Road...We’ve also come across “hidden” and “look hard”

Umm, you guys know there is an email address where you can direct your complaints? [email protected]? I can pretty much guarantee that no one in Seattle is reading these forums.
Umm, I don’t think anyone here ever expected them to. 🙄

How about just taking along an old GPS receiver to use as a prop when one needs to be shown in a photo? Doesn’t even have to be a working one.
Seems like unnecessary baggage especially if it’s not working. If you’re concerned about it, ask the owner before you go, since you’re probably doing research on ECs anyway before you go out.
On the Left Side of the Road...8) x 1,100!
