Many rural areas of WI dont see much caching traffic. One find per month is not uncommon. Thus great high percentage Favorited caches may not have any votes (or visits) over a given period of time.
Speaking as an owner of COTM caches, and as geocache seekers. I can say we see in logs that our caches are often sought based on favorite points that are easy to see on the GC search list. We also do get the same comment from those who’ve planned further and actually opened an individual page and seen the COTM banner. We do the same as we plan searches in other parts of WI or the USA. I can see eliminating this feature if it is a burden on our webmasters and deferring to Favorites points. Cya, Jim

Participation in COTM really dropped off when the Mothership instituted Favorite points. I do look for those on caches when we are planning a hunt in a new area. I do value COTM status on some of ours, and display the banners on the page when I can get the html coding. Still waiting on one from last spring… hint, hint… cya, Grandpa
The perks of a Board position, Jim? I wonder if it could become Waupaca if one of us ran… 🙂 kidding, of course! Cya, Grandpa Jim
We were notified in May that our Chapel in the Woods cache was one of the April COTMs. I inquired about the html code, and there was a glitch being worked on. I’d like to put the banner on the cache page, am wondering if the code is available yet. Thanks a lot. Cya, Grandpa
Where is the COTM blue ribbon html listed? I found it easily last time it was needed. No such luck now… Thanks.
Bummer. Unfortunately we have noticed a trend in northern Oconto County of people causing problems with caches. Vandalism and outright theft is all too common. Sorry for your loss, we know how maddening this is. Jim & Chris
One time Gram and I were getting close to one of our #100 levels. That coincided with a vacation trip to an all inclusive resort in Mexico. We figured we’d take a boat out to Cozumel (island), rent a car, and find a bunch of caches. We did, had a nice lunch in a tropical oceanfront thatched hut, and drove past a few more caches thinking we were over the top. When we got home and started logging caches, I discovered that we had topped out at a x99 level! So the next one ended up being some generic micro someplace… Frustrating at the time, but funny now! cYa, Jim & Chris
Thanks a lot Lab Rat. Between you dusting the cache and area, and Samson who got out there with some spray, the little frog living in there is going to need to go elsewhere for his meals. The assist is greatly appreciated, the cache should now be good to go. cYa, Chris, Jim, & Samson
We had an anniversary dinner across the river from Marinette at Berg’s Landing. Great meal, great service, great view. This is an upper end restaurant, not a burger joint. But for a special occasion it was perfect. Highly recommended. And keeping some WI content in this post, we ate lunch and found caches south of the river, which were all good. cYa, Chris and Jim
Congrats Jim and Cathy. You are about 6.5 times ahead of us total finds. Not sure if we’ll live long enough to hit 10 K!

Is Anderson’s the former Club 32, on the north side of Lakewood?
I am hat wearer, Gram is not. I’d also prefer something lightweight or mesh back half, as I have lots of heavier baseball caps that are too warm for summer wear.
Thanks, good idea!

Hello –
I thought I had read on here that the state parks had GPSr units available to check out. Two people from our Geo 101 class went out to Hartman Creek State Park and asked. They were told there were none to check out.
Didn’t the WGA donate one to Hartman Creek S.P. following the last campout held there? Or did that go to the Friends group?
Is senility kicking in? Did I misunderstand? Or is it wishful thinking?
Thanks for any additional info.
