We are currently reading Cathy’s prior book, “Rejected to Accepted”, and are enjoying it. Can’t wait to take a look at her newest work!
Way to go – good job. Congrats!

Looks like we’ll be going to NYC at the end of April. We have looked up caches near Beckster’s ( our daughter ) apartment and jobsite, and noticed many don’t last too long. And yes, there are spoiler photos and logs posted for quite a few. Our primary locations will be in the Wall Street and Time’s Square areas, that’s more metro than Waupaca! Central Park is within walking distance. But with the many transit options available we can go elsewhere for tourist stuff or caching.
We have an iPhone and Galaxy S4, but are still old school with a blue eTrex Legend. Eventually we’ll upgrade the eTrex, but not yet.
Thanks for the responses, other thoughts and experiences Are appreciated.

We like Tubbs brand. Great bindings easy on and off. We’ve gotten several sets from eBay slightly used at half price or less. Poles are just ski poles from Goodwill. These combos work great for us as occasional users.
Thanks, Zuma, for adding the links to other state park series. You beat me to it, I was thinking along the same lines. And thanks to others for lots of interesting ideas.
We really liked how the Arkansas series was organized, and the caches we did while visiting there were nicely set up. There is probably no need to reinvent the wheel here, several of these state parks series already exist.
As for rewards, I like hats, but Chris would not likely ever wear one. A small embroidered ‘merit badge’ would be neat. Gram could get her sewing fix attaching it to my hat or fanny pack, and it would forever be humblyly displayed. An enameled trackable curved hiking staff medallion would be something we’d like and use, too.
We are glad to see our WGA series underway, and look forward to finding more of the caches as we travel this great state of ours.

Agree with Benny, summer would be Alaskan cruise time. We went to the southern Caribbean at Easter a few years ago, it was wonderful, but was getting pretty hot. I wouldn’t want to go there a few months later. An Alaskan cruise has been on our radar, but our travel budget is pretty well shot for awhile. Our trip Downunder took care of that!
But we would be interested in hearing about a caching cruise in the future.

We agree with the other posts on why to give Favs. We have only had Premium status for a year, so we got a whole bunch of Favs to hand out all of a sudden. We have not gone backwards awarding them to past finds, that could be a good cold winter day project. We have been rather stingy now, more from forgetting while logging than just being ornery. When looking up caches to go after in a new area, we do pay attention to the Favs count, but have found some pretty lame caches with a lot of Favs, some areas must not have much to compare to! And we have also found some really terrific ones with few or no votes. All in all, we like it as an addition to the whole geocaching package.

Maybe it is time to upgrade our old Garmin eTrex Legend that we bought soon after starting to cache. It’s been acting up and giving us some real goofy readings, even in good conditions. We had three coupons for $30.00 off, we paid about $75.00 for it! Any deals like that anymore? The 450 is sounding like it might be the way to go.

Jim, we missed you two days in a row! Where ya cachin’ next?
Congrats on #3900. That’s exactly 3 x the number we celebrated yesterday. A noteworthy count for you, to be sure.

Thanks, Mark and Pat! We thoroughly enjoyed our 10th Geoversary going after caches in a new and picturesque area, and spending quite a bit of the day with you two made it all the better.

Great article. I am anxious for Chris to be able to get out of the workforce so we may have more time to get out and take 10 hours for a 2 hour trip!

Congrats – maybe this oughta become an official Oconto County Challenge?

Congrats, Mark & Pat. We are looking forward to celebrating our geoversary with you two next month. And we’ll save the ‘then and now’ post, as we can make the same claims! cYa, Chris & Jim
Good Job, Mark and Pat! Congrats.

Fulton, IL? I thought nobody ever heard of it, much less traveled there!
Our family homesteads are in Fulton, owned and mostly occupied by relatives since the early 1930’s. But our clan has been there continuously since the late 1800’s.
We’ve done a few caches in Fulton and across the Mississippi in Clinton, Iowa. But mostly we visit with an elderly uncle, our last fulltime Fulton relative in residence. It’s a very picturesque area all the way up and down the river. These are all old towns with lotsa interesting history. Consequently, lotsa interesting caches.

Our first, hidden in July of 2004, was a challenging multi in the Jones Springs Recreation Area in northern Oconto County, WI, GCK3GQ . The local muggles would not leave it alone, it became a big maintenance chore with vandalizing and outright theft. We finally archived it and pulled out stages 1, 2, and 3. The final remains, C17ANG ,although it is moved further off trail and is hidden better. It’s been ignored by the vandals, probably because it is pretty remote and they’d have to work too hard to get it. It gets found occasionally (39 logs) since being remodeled in Nov. 2007.
In hindsight, we’ve learned a lot about caches and placements. It was a cool multi, but we’d probably set it up differently if we were to do it again.
