  • Thanks for all of the suggestions and help folks. I DO plan to hide temps now thanks to all of your feedback. Otherwise they would get muggled for sure. I do have another question for you all….some time ago I saved a photo on my HOME computer of a poster, YELLOW with several examples of real geocaches on it. I don’t have access to the home computer right now, does anyone know of such a poster? Otherwise I will make one. I did download the powerpoint presentation from the GeoPicnic class, Introduction to Geocaching and plan to use parts of that as well. I am making a poster of trackables and going into detail on that and their ethics as well. Leave no trace too. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The class is October 18th for classroom intro and October 20th for actual cache hunting. Thanks!!

Mrs. TE explained that to us at the first weenie roast in 2009: When caching with a group, if one person spots the cache, he/she steps back and says “finder’s tree”, while the others keep looking. Each one who finds it does the same until the last person spots the cache, then picks it up for everyone to pass around. Everyone gets to experience the find that way.

You were running around willy-nilly with Trooper at that event, finding all the caches way ahead of us slow people, Cindy! 🙄 😉 That’s why you weren’t with us when Mrs. TE gave us the explanation of finder’s tree.

Oh, I do remember the first find going that way, before Trooper and I ran around “Willy-nilly!”

Use a finder tree so every one has a chance to find it. Last person to find gets to open it.

We have taught that age group many times. We learned to use temps. The one time we used our regular one it ended up being used as a urinal a few weeks later. We learned on that one. Lol.

Hi TE! Can you explain the “finder tree” to me please?

Loony Lori and I have nicknamed my Nuvi, “Joyce” for reasons not too nice to be mentioned here. But we Laugh out loud every time she says…..”RECACULATING!” and too often I might add!

I use a macbook pro and have found out how to load my caches finally
get your PQ if your a pay member save it to desktop open the folder drag that info to the desktop plug in your gps ( ours garmin oregon and nuvi 500 ) open your garmin drive or what ever go to the gpx file delete the gpx files out of that folder then delete your trash and drag and drop the 2 gpx files from your desktop into your gpx folder in your gps folder
    hope that helps

Thanks so much Shrek and fiona! Your answer sunk in and I was able to finally load my caches into the geocaching folder as geocaches not waypoints. Thank YOU!!! 🙂

What a wonderful journey you had….now you MUST head to NW Wisconsin…..Hayward Cheezehead has some great puzzle caches, and I LOVE to place micros in the woods! Don’t let that scare you off….But SERIOUSLY…if you solve any of Hayward Cheezehead puzzles, email me the answers for trade in local Cheeze. Sound good to you?

North of Highway 64 sometimes gets the swag blown in from south of Highway 64…so we Barnes Babes from Bayfield County would be honored to co-sponsor a CITO event!

JULY 3rd? Not sure where zuma! came up with that date….we were seeking one in August to coincide with the second annual Barnes Babes Cache B.A.C.H.E. We were hoping to have a multiple icon day set up for the events….I will contact zuma! regarding this…We WOULD BE HONORED to host a CITO event in Barnes and after the 4th of July would be a great time. Just a little later than the 3rd.

That sounds right up my alley!!! I hope that there will be kayak lessons included in this idea!??

Thank You One Paddle Short for a GREAT TIME! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the great company. Lunch was an added bonus from you guys as well.

This one has been on my bucket list for some time now…winter should be outstanding! I’d love to make it, and will check with the “other Barnes Babes” to see if I have a chaperone, (oh…I meant partner!)
