No problem with our pride. We log all of our “no finds.” In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we had more “no finds” than actual finds!
Like T & TB – our first cache was also a “no find.”
We’re not really into the numbers – just the fun of a good hike…
Bear Lake Campground in Manawa, WI is a beautiful campground that Amy and I have stayed at many times over the years. Nice, quiet, beautiful. Located right in Central, WI – access to many caches. Bridget Conroy is one of the owners and one of the nicest people we have ever met…
Also – the RAFT-N-REST Campground up in Langlade, WI is a great place to go and camp as well.
Mertzon, TX. 200 miles west of Bush’s ranch in Crawford…
It’s not you guys T & TB – it’s the forums all together. It seems like there’s been a general degeneration of the forum discussions over the past 6 months. A lot more arguing, debating, cynicism, etc… among members. Some of these threads have gotten to be as bad as the GC.COM forums.
This thread was just the “straw that broke the camel’s back” for me. I’m finding myself getting more and more frustrated with WI Geocaching lately and it’s because of the forums. I need some time off…
As a teacher, I use the summer to recharge the batteries – not drain them down further! LOL
Is it just me or have these forums just become painful?
I’m taking a vacation from the WGA for awhile…
See you all in September…
Unfortunately, Amy and I won’t be able to make it after all.
I’m laughing because I know what’s coming…
I love it… I’m rolling on the ground laughing… Jeff – you are truly god!
Cathunter – I’ll agree with that!
Some of the late fall caching Amy and I did up in Door County last year was heaven. No one around – the Peninsula was empty!
I agree with Buy_The_Tie…. You’re going to want to talk to someone that has worked with a variety of units. Magellan/Garmin can really get to be like Chevy/Ford for some people. Hook up with a someone who has test driven a few different makes…
Tim –
You might want to post the question in their forum?
http://www.indianageocaching.comLOL!!!!! Agreed Ken…. I hinted at that in my reply but I’m glad someone came out and said it….
http://www.froogle.com to find the best price. This is how I bought my Meridian. Scans the whole net for the best on-line price for any item. Good stuff….
I agree with Ken. I spent a few years in the insurance industry before teaching. That ugly “L” word [liability] can get pretty vague in this type of situation.
Some form of written waiver would be next to impossible to enforce. The canoe on the site open for anyone to use would be considered an “attractive nuisance” (much like a swimming pool which is why fences are required…) and you could get into a bind if a kid comes and takes it out and then flips…
Personally, I’d stay on the safe side on this one…
I hate to admit it but I’m afraid that you would lose your canoe. Especially now that some caches are being plundered, I think this would be a problem. If you really want to do this then I would make it a “members only” cache. That will keep at least some of the riff/raff (sp?) out…
On the other hand, I’ve been looking to set up a cache which would require you to canoe to it. I didn’t have any plans to provide the canoe though. After yapping with a number of other cachers at the campout, there are a number of people who own their own canoes/skiffs, etc… Nothing wrong with having a few caches out there that require some special equipment of your own. I’ll bet those caches in the Rocky Mountains don’t provide climbing gear! LOL
Sounds like a neat cache. If you put it together I would love it if you put the link on this thread. It probably wouldn’t come up in my weekly newsletter from Groundspeak. This is one I’d like to find!
