Hey – sounds good to The Green Bay Paddlers. As long as there is a spot to pop up a small camper, knock back a couple barley pops and throw a few steaks on the grill – we’re in! (Oh yeah, we can do some caching too!)

Hartman’s Creek is a nice area. Good idea on shuttling the location around the state a bit… Count us in…

    Hey Tenner –

We haven’t met yet but I feel like I already know ya… We’ve been chumming around a lot lately with “What’s Next?” and the topic of “Tenner” always comes up.

Good luck to you on your hunt. Be safe! Looks like we’ll have to pack a few extra bags of ice along this year to keep the deer cool!

Geocachers – my recommendation is to take the weekend off. 400,000+ armed (and many drunk) cheeseheads out in the woods this weekend ready to shoot the first thing that moves.

Life is good, caching is GREAT and hunting is spiritual. Have a SAFE hunt!!!

Jeff (of the Green Bay Paddlers….)

Amy and I exclusively use headlamps up in the Boundary Waters. Very easy to use and bright. I use them duck hunting as well while I’m trying to maintain balance, put out decoys and keep the boat on course all at the same time!

I bought a big Coleman 2-D cell flashlight a few years back that I now keep in Amy’s car. Puts out a nice beam. I’ve always kept a small mini-mag light on my belt during camping trips as well.

This past week (after watching “What’s Next” at the Glow in the Dark 2 cache on Halloween) I decided to invest in a 3 – D Cell mag light. I like it. Heavy duty and strong.

    Hope this helps…

That is awesome! We’ve only been involved a short time and can’t believe all the pictures…!!!!

Glad we were along for part of the ride. Congrats Tim and Carole. You guys are the best…

We had a GREAT time doing Glow in the Dark 2 with you on Halloween. Definitely a good memory!

Hey folks – While I have lived in Wisconsin for over ten years, I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. I still get down there once every few months to see the folks and do some GREAT geocaching. “Great” geocaching??? Absolutely. There are some forest preserves in southern suburbs (near Palos, Lemont and Orland Park) that are OUTSTANDING. Rugged terrain (definately deserves some of the “4” ratings I’ve seen), deep ravines, rivers, creeks, deep woods and clever multi-caches.

We’re down here visiting as I type. We did half of a wonderful multi-part “Lord of the Rings” cache yesterday. We’re finishing the second half today. There are some preserves where you can park and knock out 10-15 caches without having to move your car while covering a LOT of ground!

The woods around here make you feel like you’re in Marinette County, not a suburb of 3rd largest city in the U.S.! The best part is that since they have such a huge deer problem down here, the undergrowth is almost all gone allowing you to cut cross-country, but with little to no actual bushwacking.

…and don’t forget the “Sister Bay Bowl” for corned beef and cabbage on Wednesday’s…!!!

Rouer’s is fine for kids during the day. I always kind of considered it more of a “bar” after dark though… The burgers are exactly like Grandma used to make! Pan-fried in cast iron skillets. Rumor has it that the beef is acutally made up of all the cuts of the cow, that’s why they are so good. Tenderloins, sirloins, chuck roasts, etc.. all ground up. These burgers are to die for…! (and don’t forget the fried onions!

We foud a pocketknife in one of the caches up here and immediately took it out. I completely agree that they should not be out there. This is a family sport/hobby and I don’t think knives belong in caches.

We live in a different age (yes, I was once a cub scout with the pocketknife too.) As a public high school teacher I personally think the less knives out there the better. Things have changed – look at what four box cutters did on 9/11!

FYI – We went out to the Scarboro cache today in hopes of a nice hike through this area. When we got there we came across something far more sinister than Geomuggles – We came across Hunting Geomuggles – with GUNS!!! We decided to skip this cache and headed over to other pastures…

In all seriousness – if you try for this cache in the next month or two – make sure you wear blaze orange. You can pick up a blaze orange windbreaker or vest VERY cheap at Fleet Farm – $14-$20. (I’m a hunter as well as a geocacher…)

Amy and I also lived in Kewaunee County for a few years. It’s a great area, but lot’s of hunters. There are some GREAT areas as well. (And don’t forget to slip up “over the border” to Door County and get some Joe Rouer’s burgers!!! LEGENDARY – THE BEST!!!
