although if you’re following my footprints, you might just be going nowhere!!!!

Thanks everybody — I’ll log my foiled attempts. I’ve just got to get past that “failure” feeling, you know? I had such good luck on my firts 4 attempts.
And as an aside — I’ve interested a few of my greyhound friends in geocaching. For some reason, I knew that people obsesseed with this particular breed of dog would be just as likely to get involved in geocaching….

This all means that I really have to get to work and find all those caches before they get archived or moved. But in general, I think keeping the environment in mind is a really good idea. It also allows new caches to be placed, so those or you will a bazillion finds have new places to go!

I too want to say thanks! I had such a great time and enjoyed meeting so many fellow geocachers. Special thanks to Geotrippers and MadisonJoe for showing me the ropes and putting up with a newbie like me.
….’course, I’m pretty wiped out today. Last night was the first time in a long time that I went to bed at 9PM!!! But it was all worth — thanks!!!!

I did let Mom know about the hike to the shelter, and she seems to be okay with it. Mom’s in her 50s too. I was actually sort of surprised she was interested in coming along with me, but she does like the out of doors. Perhaps we’ll convert her…..

Oooh — geocaching and dogs, two of my favorite things!!
Are these dogs areas fenced, or not? Not that it matters much, but if I bring my greyhound (and sometimes my terrier too) he would not listen to me if taken off the lead. I’ve spent about an hour chasing him around a fenced dog park before I could finally catch him. But I love to give him the opportunity to run full speed — it’s quite a sight to behold!!
But at any rate — thanks for everone’s help!! See some of you on Saturday!

Hey! I’m planning on being there. I might be bringing my dear old mom along, but I don’t know if she’ll want to do all that seeking. Could she maybe hang out by the fire while I’m out looking for caches? She might join me on a few of my adventures — she’s never done this before (not that I have that much more experience than she does!!!)
Thanks!
BecI saw Wicket’s picture — what a cutie! And a nice coat for colder weather trekking. I posted a picture of my little dog (Peanut) at The Tick TB page. She went with my on my first geocache and she loved the excursion! She heard turkeys and was very intrigued.
I plan on coming to the Saturday event — as long as work doesn’t pop up. I think it will just be me, unless I can convince someone to come with me. No dogs this time. Are we to bring anything to share, food-wise? Is there any cost? Will the temporary caches locations be given out at the event, or are they posted?
It will be a little bit of a drive for me to get there (about an hour and a half) but I’m usually early. Look for the teal blue blazer with the cracked bumper (don’t ask about that!)
Oh, and what sorts of caches will they be? I want to be sure to bring along appropriate items to leave (big stuff, small stuff, etc…) It will be 10 caches, or more?
Okay, enough questions for now. Ooh, I’m getting excited!!!!!

Hi Grumbleberies! Did you see me before or after my first fall? I’m not the best on ice (broke a kneecap about 10 years ago) so I’ve got to remember to be very cautious! I’m really impressed with the number of caches in the area (and the state!)
Both my dogs are short haired (a greyhound and a small terrier) but we have winter clothing for them, and I won’t take them on really cold days. But both love exploring, so it’ll be fun!
I don’t believe I’m working this Saturday, so I might just be coming out to the caching event.
Just found a couple more today — this is so much fun!
Bec
As long as I don’t have to work, I definitely will be there!

Thanks for making me feel welcome! I’m trying to decide if I want to go outside this afternoon and find another cache (it’s so cold! But I think I will.)
I was wondering if anyone had put caches in dog parks — I thought that was a neat idea.
Thanks for the info. Hope I get to see you at events as well!
Bec
Wow! I only have 798 more to go!
