Nothing in the world can motivate this fat guy to climb a big hill more than a Geocache!
Just change “guy” to “gal” in this sentence and you’ve got my motto!!

Back in the day…..when you logged a “found it” for attending an event rather than “attended” since “attended” was not on option, whoever hosted the event never got to claim a smilie for hosting the event since it was taboo to log a “found it” for your own cache/event!
Now, with the “attended” log, the event host is welcomed to earn a smilie by claiming an “attended” log, since they did in fact attend their own event. Tami
You know, I never knew this. I never logged an attended for the event I hosted….

Thinking about attending but wondering: how many actually kayak to the island? Or is this mainly a karfi-riders event?
If I had a kayak, and knew how to use one, I would certainly paddle to the island. But until that time, I Karfi it…
Do come though!!

Nope — no desire to stay and manage the fort at all on my part. I got stuck doing that last year and didn’t get to find a single geocache. As long as we have someone left at the shelter, I plan on coming along as well. I NEED to cache!!!!!!

Still need donations of charcoal and bottled water….
Someone will contact you regarding this.

I have my opinion about logging of temporary caches and events. I’ve done my voting in the referendum and through the BOD vote.
There will still be temporary caches at the event. Nothing changes there. You can still look for them. The BOD has just made a stance on the logging of temps based on the opinions of voters in the referendum (yep, not a majority of members. Members received an email regarding the referendum. If they chose not to vote, we can’t really force them to. I take the absence of votes as an “I don’t care what you do” opinion). The only difference is that we are encouraging folks to visit temporary caches, visit with others, and camp if you choose — just log one “attended” for the event.
If you don’t like the idea of finding caches and not being able to log them, there are some really nice permanent caches in the park (some longer hikes too, which I’m looking forward to!) Perhaps locals might be interested in placing a new cache or two in the park?
So rather than 60 or 70 finds for the day, you might only get 6 or 7. I guess to me that doesn’t really matter. You’ll be in a beautiful park, getting to spend time with people with similar interests to yours. That’s really all I need.
(this is just my opinion by the way.)

They had DNA from the cat when it was in Wisconsin (not sure what, probably hair) and were able to compare it to DNA from the dead cougar.
This whole thing just makes me upset. Why not catch the animal before shooting it?

I was in Pennsylvania when I heard the news. It wasn’t until I came back to Wisconsin that I found out that this was Steve’s daughter-in-law and children.
I’m very saddened by the news. They are all in my heart too.

Depending on the date, I might be interested in tagging along on this one.

I haven’t cached with a bike before, but I hope to sometime.
Got myself a Trek 4900 (or something like that) mountain bike.
Plan on bringing it up to Gov. Dodge for the campout.

I’ll be there!
If anyone want to meet up somewhere and carpool — that would be a great way to save a little bit on gas!

Ooh! A marshmallow and fire…….!!!!!

I’m heading to Gettysburg, PA in a couple days. I believe nearly 50% of the vacation budget is going towards gas.
