Everyone has had great ideas, but I gotta say that I’m always partial to anything with marshmallows….. 😀

Yeah –your HotWheels cache was archived. I actually spoke with one of the big wigs at Groundspeak about the exact procedure that I needed to follow for your cache. He directly told me to archive your cache, cite the commerical guideline and have you send an email to appeals. I was just following orders.

I know — archiving seems so permanent. But I wasn’t doing it as a crabby, nasty thing. Just doing what I was told to do.

When a business or something commercial like that is mentioned briefly in a cache page, I usually disable and ask for changes to be made. Your particular cache has a few extra bells and whistles to it — and frankly I really liked it and didn’t want you to make any changes — hence my direction to groundspeak for a (cross your fingers) exception.

I would like to hear more about this, and macro use in general. I’ve browsed the macros, but just don’t have a clue about what to do with them.

    Great topic!

I know technically, Shanksville PA was not a planned attack point, but it made headlines because of terrorist activity. It’s a super small town that made the news. And it’s certainly not been forgotten. I’ve visited twice and there has always been a crowd at the crash site.

I like to trade for signature items. Otherwise, unless I see something really cool (once I found a wind-up, hopping eyeball) I don’t trade. Sometimes I just leave some extra swag, especially if I think the cache is a little depleted. I will take out food, or inappropriate items however.

Please know that I have no problems with any of the other GPS activities — I think anything that gets you outside and active is a good thing.

But do remember that this is the Wisconsin GEOCACHING Association, not the Wisconsin GPS ACTIVITY Association. This website is devoted to those who use the gc.com guidelines at this time.

That’s not to say that we couldn’t ever expand our horizons into other GPS activities, we just wouldn’t be the Wisconsin Geocaching Association anymore.

I really, really hope some of the other sites are not putting caches near railroad tracks. Not only is it a safety issue, it is also tresspassing.

Photo taken by GR8 EYES at the Asian Breakfast in Hartford event. For some reason, we decided to take the Studebaker to the event. And then we did some geocaching in it. That was fun!

I started out using Plucker and Spinner and really liked it. I was reluctant to switch over to Cachemate, mostly because I liked saying “plucker” 😀 . But I’ve been using Cachemate for a while now (about 2 years?) and it serves me well.

There’s still a lot I don’t know about Cachemate yet though. I’m working on my schedule to be able to get up to Appleton for Marc’s class.
