    Sandlanders,

Do you have a Mac? I seem to recall that there were some issues with the dates and those using Macs with Safari. I think the fabulous reviewers are able to correct the problem for you (at least that’s what I’ve been reading!)

Just came across this video of elephants in the snow — it’s wonderful:

    Elephants love snow

I am a training specialist in Supported Employment. Also known as a job coach. I work with folks with barriers (disabilities). I go with them to various job sites around a 5/6 county area in south central/south eastern Wisconsin and help them be successful on the job. I can do pretty much any entry level job out there. I’ve also had some really interesting experiences. I have built garbage disposals, driven tractors, and made sandwiches for Bill Murray (yes, that Bill Murray). I work with a wide range of barriers and face a lot of challenges and delights on a daily basis. And then there’s also lots of paperwork……

My job means that I have to be available to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Yes, I’ve done some 3rd shift jobs. And no, I don’t know my work schedule for the next week until Friday (sometimes Sunday) before the Monday of the new week.

I also have a gig as an instructor at our local Madison Area Technical College campus. My class is geocaching, and there is a possibility that I might actually have a full class this semester (yay!) It’s just a one day, 3 hour thing.

I’m pretty much only home in the evenings — when I don’t have to work. I gotta get in my lovin’ to all my pets (2 dogs, 3 cats). And when I’m not at home or work, I am at the gym. I am now training for triathalons (it’s a long term goal mind you). Oh yeah, and then there’s that reviewing thing….

So I get to go to all sort of towns, and when time allows, I get to do some geocaching. I’m good with maps. Work can be a puzzle for me at times, but I like the challenge, so I like to try puzzle caches (can’t always figure them all out, but when I get started on one, I’m likely to work on it until I can figure it out.) I’ve solved a bunch of puzzles, but just haven’t gotten to the area to find the cache yet. But I like to just get out and find caches — as a sort of relief from a frankly pretty demanding and often stressful job. I like to cache whenever I can fit it in.

Does my job fit my caching style?……I don’t know. It probably fits my lifestyle — kind of erratic and in intense bursts.

One last thing. My heart is not set on the whole “Chicken” thing. If someone has a better acronym then by all means post it. I had one but the reviewers didn’t think it was Kid friendly.LOL

If it was the one you shared with me, very funny, but SO NOT kid friendly LOL 😆

I don’t have a least favorite. LPHs in the middle of a parking lot are not my favorite, but I’ve found some. Caches that make me wonder why on earth did the hider want me to visit HERE? are not my favorite, but I’m sure they have their reasons. But I don’t avoid them or anything.

I have a very small (8X8 maybe?) Coleman tent that I bought before my first geo-campout in 2004. It has been a great tent for me for these past few years. Lightweight and easy to set up alone (I can get it all up in about 15 minutes tops).

I just got a free Wenzel tent of about the same size. This one seems to be even lighter than the Coleman. I may have to take it for a test run at this campout (after I get the seams sealed, of course).

    I just love this sentence!!

And for some reason, I’m hungry for chicken again….

I always review my caches at the one year mark. Sometimes I archive then to make room for other potential hides. I do have a few caches older than one year out. As long as I see that others are still visiting and enjoying, I will keep the cache out, but then review about every six months (regular maintenance, unless otherwise requested by finders).

I have a cache that I adopted that I will not archive. Technically it’s not really mine. But I do review it and perform needed maintenance every six months (or more, if noted).

If I saw a significant volunteer trail I would archive the cache as well, or if there was notable damage to the area.

If someone wanted to put a cache in a area near mine and asked me to move or archive. I would be willing to archive, but probably not move, the cache.

I don’t have very many cache hides though, and they aren’t all that special (they’re pretty good though).

I’m going to just assume that there is a geocache or waymark near this place:

Yeah, you’re be able to avoid all the icky, slushy, sloppy weather geocaching this way. You’ll be all ready to get out there when it’s nice again!

Sorry to hear of your injury. Breaks are just not fun…..

That reminds me — I still need to get my bow re-haired…..

in reply to: CHEESE WEEK CELEBRATIONS What and Where are they? #1885290

Mmmmm….cheese! I love cheese! I can’t even pick a favorite. It’s one item that I still eat, even with all the things I have cut out in my diet. I just can’t stay away from cheese.

You know, for those photos to come out of something so simply constructed as a box camera (yep, know what they are — Dad collects Kodaks — never have used one though) the pictures are quite stunning.
