Cool! I got to meet her about a month ago when we had our “orientation”. Seems like a great person.

Well, I should have posted here — duh!
I’ve already got this set up. It’s going to be a full day affair on Sunday September 16 (or whatever the day after the picnic is). There will be 4 separate times that I will be doing the presentation along with several other presenters. It’s sort of like a conference. Should be fun.
I’ve already been out to the property where we are having the event. It’s huge and beautiful. I’m really looking forward to it!

I think half of my phone list on my cell phone is geocachers. I rarely call any of them due to my extreme dislike of using the phone, but I would feel comfortable calling any of them if I needed a hint on a cache.

Hope it’s not Lyme’s — got my fingers crossed for you.
There is a nasty flu bug going around…..should you hope for the flu?

Thanks Tye & Tie!

The Racine class is probably not a geocaching event. Most likely it’s a presentation about geocahing put on by the library (hopefully someone who geocaches!)
I did a presentation at a library about a month ago. It was attended by people wanting to know more about geocaching. Therefore, I didn’t list it as an event (although it would probably have a had a few more people then! 😀 ). It was a very basic presentation with only 6 temporary caches hidden (and pretty easy hides at that), so I could handle it myself.
The Kettle Moraine event is much larger and needs a little extra help. The event listing just helps get the word out and get the needed assistance (thanks to all that are helping!! It’s a really fun time. Wish I could make it this year.)

It’ll be back at Kendallville next year — August 8-10, I believe.
And yes, we have spoken to the organizers about bringing this to Wisconsin. At this point, the plan is to stay in Indiana. But they know we would be interested.

I showed up Saturday morning. The only Wisconsin cacher I saw all weekend was kbraband, and the closest other cachers were ClikChik and GeekBoy. Maybe I was just too far away from the other camping areas.
Had a great time, though! I only cached on Sunday, and I found 19 caches in four states!
I saw you too, at the keynote speaker, I believe. You were across the room, and then when I went to say “hi” I lost you.
I had a nice weekend as well. In the end I had 29 caches in 4 states.
Who’s planning to go next year?

I’m here! I can see the Geobash from the hotel! It’s not too exciting yet, since we’re a day early, but the hotel is nice.
Hope to see some Wisconsinites amongst the massess.

At this point — my conversations with the DOT are leading to NOs. They are aware that Minnesota has a provision for geocaching, and they know that geocaches are at rest areas around the US. However, they do not want them at Wisconsin Rest Areas, and have told me that if they learn of such placement, they will be removed (hinting at possible littering fines as well — although finding the owner would be a problem, I’m sure).
At this point, under the radar is the best option — the more the DOT knows, the stronger their stance against them will be. We are making small inroads to get on the good side of the DOT through our involvement in Adopt A Highway (please, everyone help out with this — numbers look good!)
This will take some time, and may be best worked on in a subtle manner rather than a campaign, but I am one person with one opinion. Do whatever you think is best.
