I have one or two yet!

The tallying is done by WGA members. The 3 folks doing this year are not up for board election.

And they have had electrodes attached to body parts to prevent any possibility of cheating!

But in all seriousness — I want to thank them for the huge undertaking they have volunteered for!

There still are 3 or 4 within a 25 mile radius of Wausau in caches just waiting for someone like LOSTBY7 to claim them. 😉

I would pay money to see him drive up to Wausau to get a Jeep (oh yeah — that was a challenge Lostby7)

I hope you don’t remove my vote. If you do, the cache I voted for won’t have any votes…. Oops, so much for my secret ballot….

I’m in a grouchy mood — don’t push it buster!

Currently I mean Cache of the Year voting, but those overseeing voting are able to view votes placed, time placed, sock and all sort of other fun stuff (any voting that goes on here).

And I want to clarify — votes are not being removed because the person hasn’t visited the cache. There is no rule stating that you must visit a cache before you can vote for it. The votes being deleted are those which are sock puppet account created by existing members solely for the purpose of placing more votes.

The removal of votes is not done willy-nilly either. There is a some investigative work done before they are removed to weed out variables.

The 4 votes that have been removed have been determined to be sock puppet accounts. If those placing the removed votes dispute this action, they can PM me about it.

I want to thank everyone else for their participation in Cache of the Month and Cache of the Year. This has been a banner year — lots of nominees and lots of voting. This just shows how much you all care about geocaching in Wisconsin!

Yes, we are aware of some issues with votes at this point. I was going to address this a little later, but will do so now.

People should realize that when you place a vote we see your ISP address, as well as other information that tells us who placed the vote and at what time. Those that think they are cheating the system are NOT. These votes will be removed, and the accounts will be disabled.

The fraud is being perpetrated by a small number of people. I will not name any names. I am pretty disappointed though.

Please know that votes for board of directors will be closely scrutinized!

Wool socks? Yeah, but, um, how many?

I was leaving that to the imagination…. 😮

Would the CinemaBoxers coin be featuring a dog?

    Bec

(I collect coins with dogs on them.)

I have a little experience — not direct, but purely observational — with specialty license plates and getting people to buy them. Obviously, greyhounds are a passion of mine, and greyhound people tend to be just as or more obsessive about the dogs. A few adoption groups created some specialty plates featuring a greyhound. The very obsessed greyhound owners will buy anything with a greyhound on it. Even a license plate from a state they do not live in. I don’t know about Wisconsin, but some states will sell you a plate. And knowing my love of greyhounds, and geocaching, I can only extrapolate that other geocachers outside of Wisconsin would want a geocaching license plate for their wall….

😀 You do have to admit that the image of a bunch of geocachers driving around in golf carts with a beer in one hand, a rubber stamp on a pole in the other, and GPSr on their lap is a at least a little amusing.

Perhaps we can test this out at our upcoming campout. If it involves beer, I am willing to be a test subject…

Out of intense guilt I’ve deleted all my attended logs except one, didn’t realize how much of a big deal it was on the GC forums. Guess I can see the point of logging multiple times for one event being an issue but that’s what I was told to do at the event to log the temp caches. Oh well live and learn I guess. Still had a great time at the event either way.

Don’t do anything because you want to make others happy. Be happy with yourself. If you feel comfortable logging the event find, do it. Don’t worry at all about what others think. This is not an activity where one person is better than another based on the number of geocaches found. You are a better person based on who you are and the ability to stand for your own ideas.

But if you feel more comfortable with logging only one attended for an event — do that also. I will certainly not judge you.

Some of those people on the gc forums are good at the guilt, aren’t they? They also really need to get away from the computer and find some geocaches.

I too have changed most of my logs for temporary caches into notes. Still have a few left — eventually they’ll be changed too. I don’t care what anyone does. All that matters to me is that I am enjoying myself and others are as well.

I tried to argue the facts that it’s impossible to compare any one person’s stats against another because we don’t all find the same caches. I still feel that stats should not be public — that way you can log them however you wish without any finger pointing.

My milestones have all changed too. I typically liked to try a challenging cache for my milestones, so they are still something special in my mind, even if it’s not #300 or whatever.
