I check out all of them when there are new posts (because I’m nosy!)
But I think the use of the regional forums is as I thought it would be.

I would like to clarify that the position would be only filled assuming that #6 agrees to only one year. Is this true or not? Does #6 have no choice? If number six declines then does it go to the next person? (if there is one)
It almost sounds like some sort of math/statistics problem, doesn’t it? 😆
There are 5 open board positions, and 12 candidates. It should work out okay.

edit: ooops — now there are 13 candidates! Holy Moley!! It’s like Cache of the Month!!! 😆

Timberline Echoes had a great comment. Is it possible to get a map indicating where geocache members reside within the state of Wisconsin? It would be interesting to see the visual representation on a map of cacher density.
This has already been suggested as a possible new feature! Stay tuned!

It’s just wrong that I know what this is, and have actually attended.
I too, love it “up north”. My hope is to live there someday. I love the history, geography and scenery. Caches are a nice added bonus, but by far not the reason I would visit. Travel bugs and geocoins wouldn’t lure me, but I would enjoy them. Discounts are a whole other bird — love the discounts!
I have a cabin in the general area (maybe an hour and a half from Boulder Junction) so I would very likely come to an event, as long as time allows for it. The bigger draw for me is coming to a place I already love and be able to share it with friends.

Lots and lots of people running for a board position, and lots of open spaces on the board means that there may be some significant changes a foot. It looks to me like there are lots of things the membership wants to happen, and lots of people who are interested in being a part of the “inner-workings” on the board. It’s a great thing to see and I’m very interested in the outcome.
Just a lot to read though!

My find count goes up and down every few days. I actually reached 500 cache finds back in 2005. Since then I have been doing a little experiment of changing all of my event temps into notes (from finds or attendeds). That’s been about 140+ changes. I still have 14 temp finds to change into notes and then my find count will start to go up again.
I’m too “prideful” to just change all the finds right away I guess. Gotta have one or two faults right?
So technically, I really haven’t gotten to 500 yet, but thanks for noticing! Give it a couple more weeks and it’ll be official.
Although I really liked Little Blue!

Maybe that’s the coin they give to all wasp survivors. 😆
Then I’ll have to give it back because that was a BIG FAT LIE!!

Tie would know better of the process, but I believe this is pretty similar to the cache rescue program.

Announcement is coming soon — just waiting on some final details.

is a famous Latin phrase coined by Roman general and consul Julius Caesar in 47 BC; Caesar used the phrase as the full text of his message to the Roman senate describing his recent victory over Pharnaces II of Pontus in the Battle of Zela. Caesar’s terse remark — translated as “I came, I saw, I conquered” — simultaneously proclaimed the totality of his victory and served to remind the senate of Caesar’s military prowess (Caesar was still in the midst of a civil war); alternatively, the remark can be viewed as an expression of Caesar’s contempt for the patrician senate, traditionally representing the most powerful group in the Roman Republic.
I think that would be veni, vidi, vici. Marc signs veni, vidi, sivi.
I initially thought he wrote: veni, vidi, sini. Which I translated as “I came, I saw, I signed” but alas, I was wrong, and I don’t know Latin.

I can throw in a monkey wrench!! How about someone who found 136 caches in a year, but the stats only show a 5 cache increase? (hmmm….how did that happen? My little secret!!)
In terms of board membership:
Do you really think all geocachers must place caches? Some people are just not that good at it (talking about myself here) or don’t have the time to maintain caches as they should be maintained. Should all geocachers be finders? There are people who are really good at hiding caches, but don’t enjoy finding them.Bec

I travel every now and then, so I’m always looking for the best out “there”

Friends of ours in Arkansas won a substantial monetary amount in a contest like this. There was a geocacher who would go to a park or other scenic area on a Saturday morning, and put the coordinates of his location on the Arkansas Geocaching website at 8 AM.
He would have a campfire going and the first three groups of geocachers to arrive at his location got 1st, 2nd, 3rd place monetary prizes. They then waited around in case others arrived and just had a nice get together around the fire.Even without the monetary reward — I think this is a fantastic idea

(edit: sorry, trying to do 2 things at once and messed up the quote code)
At one time there were a couple of Packer tickets in a cache, I believe. I think the placer had posted some information on the forums about them…
(off to check into this)

(I’m back from checking — there was a brief discussion about tickets in a cache, but they were for the Vikings, and so the discussion didn’t go very far.)
