Just my thoughts on this:
At this point the number of people voting in the poll is not a significant enough sample sized based on the population of WGA members to really mean anything. If 300 people were voting, then I would see some significance.
BecI agree with more people voting we would have a more accurate poll, but in reality this reasoning just downplays any results we do get. will we ever get 300 votes on this poll? I highly doubt it, COTM never even gets as many votes as this poll.
The real issue is that COTM does need to be updated. you can disagree with me but the 4+ page topic mentioned above by Rcsnowball says otherwise.
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1625Actually, I agree with you on this issue. I think COTM nominations should be for caches with a single GC number. Preaching to the choir with me.
My comments on the number of votes is simply a statistical observations. Even if a majority of of voting members are for/against a topic, this does not represent the majority of WGA members (well, it could, but that would be extrapolating data, which is sorta like making generalizations based on a few opinions.)
And yes, for the last few months we have had quite number of votes. I’ve been excited by the amount of traffic COTM has had since we moved to the new forum.
Believe me, I’m keeping my eye on this!

As overseer of the COTM, no matter what my opinion on it, WGA members are the ones who are nominating series for COTM. And other WGA members (friends too — didn’t want to forget you guys!) are the ones placing enough votes for these series to win. Obviously, there is some support of series as COTM, or there would be no nominations or votes.
This is similar to the discussion of events as COTM a little while back. And those are no longer eligible. If there is more support for series to not be part of COTM, the tides may again turn.

Also willing to carpool with anyone else who might be interested — might be able to borrow a larger vehicle for the trip.

Aaaaaargh! Now I’m playing the game too. Why am I so darn competitive??? Nah, I don’t need any sleep…
This is my own person Puzzle Caches Unite. I think I’m ready for all of the puzzle caches now (yeah, right…)
Went to bed last night around 2am, got up at 5am, worked until 1:30pm (skipped lunch) and now I’ve been solving puzzles since then…..must pull, myself, away, from, the, keyboard……..

I’m slowly uploading photos here:
Probably should just go ahead and pay for the service to get all photos uploaded, but as it is now, I can add about 18 a month….

Moved topic at request of LightningBugs Mum!

Congratulations! And what great photos and video!

Thanks you very much Dan! As this is one of my favorites, I keep an eye on it. Your log got me to contact the cache owner and start this whole ball rolling.
So glad that it’s back in play!

Details can be found here:

I use a lanyard and keep it around my neck, or stick it in a pocket with the antenna sticking out.
I know someone here (I’ll let him speak for himself) who makes a really nice lanyard attachment for many GPSrs.

I actually got those coordinates from a cache page (the parking location). There are several caches in the area of the picnic location. This shelter is just on the edge of the forest. It’s just outside the “town” of La Grange, on county hwy H.
Again, coordinates are approximate — should get actual ones very soon.
These are the geocaches in the general area as well:
Valley of the Kings
White Line
The Trail’s Gone Cold
No Home for the Homeless
It’s a Long WayAlso really close to the Pain in the Cache series too!

I was planning on an official announcement this evening, but this works too.
The coordinates are approximately N42 49.318 W088 36.043
That’s actually the parking area. This is the shelter we are using:

Lots and lots of trails!
More info coming soon!

The Optio is a great camera for sure, and maybe one of the best for geocaching. I was looking for a digital camera that LOOKED like a real camera, and not a tiny rectangle. It’s all about personal choice — that’s what makes life fun!
I will definitely be filling up that album soon…Rock Island is just around the corner!!
