It’s definitely down. Looks like reviewing may be done for the evening (sorry folks!)

Just thought I’d give this important post a little bump. Just over a month until the Picnic!

I think LDove means the compass screen. I’m not too familiar with your GPS, but I bet you’ll find it easier to use that screen. I’m sure someone can give you more pointers on that.

Umm, you guys know there is an email address where you can direct your complaints? [email protected]? I can pretty much guarantee that no one in Seattle is reading these forums.

Don’t be so sure about that…

Believe so — it’s right on the ocean. If not, It’s a good base of operation while looking for tides…

I’ve been there in hurricane season — so there certainly was some awesome water to be seen!

I love Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach in Delaware.

in reply to: Spinning off……tech person or outdoors person? #1911767

Although a computer and gadget geek, I only have basic knowledge of them — how do I make them work is all I need to know. I grew up in a household that was very outdoorsy, but as I got older I grew away from that.

I’d heard about orienteering and it sounded really cool, but I knew I just wouldn’t be able to figure out how to use a compass. Then I heard about geocaching, and that seemed like the “easier” thing — so I tried it.

And, truth be told, it was neither gadgets nor the outdoors that brought me fully to geocaching (although, if you count the internet, I guess it was a little more tech-side). I heard about geocaching on a greyhound online message board.

It makes me sound old, but I remember the days of solving puzzles without anything like geochecker…

Looks like most Wal-Marts in Wisconsin are okay with overnight camping. I found this list of the ones who do NOT allow it:

    WI
    City State Store Number
    Ashland WI 1672
    Janesville WI 1305
    Milwaukee WI 2828
    Minocqua WI 2510
    Sheboygan WI 1276, 3324

However, it is recommended that you ask the store before parking for the night.

in reply to: Archiving your caches #1910201

I like to archive after about a year — that way I can avoid too much of a volunteer trail developing (my caches aren’t highly visited). I have one that I really like that I should archive — it’s been in place well over a year. But I just haven’t yet. Also, I have an Otter cache that I will not archive.

It’s also a chance to give someone else the location for a hide. I prefer finding to hiding myself!

I was trying to secure accommodations for myself tonight — no luck…

I still think you butt dialed me at the campout Justin!

I got a call from you, but (butt) when I answered, all I heard was loud music!

    Butt, butt, butt….
