I got an opportunity to view the segment tonight — very well done!
Just out of curiousity, who approached whom regarding this? What was the reasoning behind it?
I do believe the report fellow is quite interested!!

There are no shortcuts to any place worth goingSince, in the greater scheme of things, find count really doesn’t mean anything (and I can be a very compettive cacher when it comes to numbers, so I know that numbers mean something on a personal level) what does it matter — people can do whatever they want.
Some people claim finds on their own caches….
Some people claim multiple finds on caches for each time they have visited it…
Some people claim finds when they didn’t find the cache, but know where it was supposed to be…It might come down to a matter of conformity — or not. Do we want to do what everyone else does and avoid the complaints of other cachers from other states? When you play golf, or basketball, or whatever, does it really matter if you “fudge” the numbers a bit? Are you having fun? I think that’s what really matters.
If I become one of the top cachers and a majority of my finds are from events, have I really spoiled the sport/game/hobby for every other geocacher? Does my find count really have that much of an impact in YOUR life?
Some people go on major caching sprees and take a long time to log their finds — some can’t even remember all the caches they did find? Should they be reprimanded for not being accurate in their find counts? They’re not claiming all their finds — I don’t know how many caches they’ve actually found!! How can I ever find more caches than them?
Just food for thought from me. It’s kind of cheesy, isn’t it?

I’ve never found business cards from either rubeeslpr or T&B, but I did find magnets that they left behind. Rubeeslpr actually has a nice assortment of signature items — something for everyone.
Rather than think of them as business cards, I think of them in terms of the calling cards of the Victorian era. When people visited friends and such, they left behind a card.
From my limited travels to other states, I’ve actually noticed that WI has far fewer signature items & cards left behind. Maybe we’re all just collecting them…
Myself, I’d rather pick up a card from a cacher than a McToy (unless it’s a really cool toy). Eventually, I plan on displaying all the nifty signature stuff I’ve collected.

There are no shortcuts to any place worth goingNew cachemobile here — the new tires came with it.
(and as to the prediction of me passing 500 this year — I’ve stalled at 393 at the moment.)

I enjoy looking at the signature items in caches — even the business cards. Sometimes they have a trinket attached too. I collect signature items as well (but they gotta catch my eye). I don’t always have the time to look through all the logs to see who visited, but signature items, even business cards are a nice way to see who came before you did.
But those things in the magazines — I take them all out before I will read it.
Of course, I’m quirky too….

There are no shortcuts to any place worth goingMaybe if the temporaries weren’t so good we wouldn’t feel so strongly about logging each one. I’m starting to feel strongly toward the one event = one find. The only reason I don’t like this is because the individual logs are sort of like a testament to good hides.
If m ore people from other states would come to one of our events, they would understand our dilemma.

I know the guy that does the video DVD production for the show (if it’s still him). He does good work. Unfortunately, we’re not on speaking terms anymore, so I can’t cut a deal there.

I’m in 946. I just checked Long Lake & Mauthe Lake — all sites (except one accessible site at Long Lake) are booked.

I will post a little sheepishly…..
1. I ranted a bit about how I wasn’t all that gung ho about the jeeps enough to get one
2. I raided one from another state!
But I got myself one white Jeep. I didn’t have to walk too far, but round trip, I drove 986.2 miles.
If you need to find me, I will be hiding underneath my soapbox…

Please add Nebraska to my list — I have the sunburn & extra freckles to prove it.

I would definitely be interested in group camping! Keep me posted on it!

Of the yellow Jeeps last year, I only found one. Didn’t really bother me — I wanted to see one in person, and when I did, then I didn’t care if I found any more.
I feel about the same about the white ones. But no big deal if I don’t find one.

Someone in your area will have Jeeps and they will be showing up in caches in your area.
