on a recent geocaching vernture with the folks, I spotted the cache and declared a finder’s tree. Mom spotted it and joined me. The finder’s tree slowly crept closer and closer to the actual tree where the cache was hid before Dad found the cache (or rather, it was pointed out to him.)

Yep — just had to fiddle with the settings. Actually, I’m finding the map detail to be pretty amazing! The points of interest are wild!
Thanks to everyone for their help!
yes, it is v6. I’ll fiddle around with the settings and see what happens. I can’t even get detailed map on my computer. I’m sure I did something wrong somewhere. IF I still have problems Cachew, I’ll drop you a line.

check out the groundspeak thread — I added my 2 cents.
Eseentially, you’re with some other cachers and you see the cache, but want to let others have the chance to find it too. So you stand somewhere away from the cache (usually at a tree, but any spot will do) and declare that you are at the finder’s tree. As others spot the cache they also move to the finder’s tree area. When everyone has had a turn at finding the cache it is retrieved and the log is signed.
It’s just a polite way to let everyone have a turn.
No to mention the teasing that goes on towards the last person who is still searching.

Congratulations!

Well then, why not, after everyone has logged their temporary finds, just put a permanent cache in the cache log page, as a sort of memorial to an event?
(Sort of in a way like Team Badger does)
Do I make sense?
BecI like it!!

I think you have to switch to Magellan. I just switched from Magellan to Garmin. Therefore, there must be a convert the other direction. It’s just part of the natural order.
I’ve heard about the Explorist 600, but have yet to see one for myself. It was actually one of the units that was under consideration for my birthday gift. Went with the Garmin GPSMap 60CS though.
Is this Explorist a cool color like the other ones?

1000? I’m just working on getting to 300 in the next couple weeks. Besides, the beast’s prediction is only to 500.
