I dearly loved my Garmin Geko 101. As a starter unit, it was all I needed. It is very easy to use, and I didn’t at all mind the lack of “bells & whistles.” I still miss it…
It was probably more akin to finding a geocache with a compass than with a GPS.
My brother has a birthday coming up and I tried to get him a Geko 101 or 201 through eBay, but I didn’t want to spend a lot (who knows if he would enjoy geocaching enough for me to spend more) but I couldn’t get a price under $100 (I love my brother, but I’m thrifty!) I did end up getting a yellow eTrex for about $80. I think he’ll like it.

And I STILL have not yet found a Jeep TB!!!!

My pack weighs 10 pounds!! Well, I need to add some resistnace to my walking program anyways!
Here’s what I’ve got:
GPS
ball cap (greyhound on it)
GMRS radio
headlamp
flashlight
leather work gloves
bug spray
pens & pencils
compass
whistle
a couple pocket knives (one’s multifunction, the other’s just sharp)
lighter
screwdriver type thing to open my GPS battery door
batteries
Rolaids
cough drops
lip balm
sun screen (small container)
analgesic
calculator
map
note books (this is where I write my cache info)
camel pack (for water)
small radio
cameras (usually just the digital though)
trade items & TBsIn the car:
big first aid kit
Wisconsin Gazeteer
change of clothing, especially socks and shoes
trekking poleand then some other stuff. I sometimes have cache repair stuff in there, but not at the moment.
And I usually carry along the cell phone too.

I have a backpack full of all sorts of stuff — I can’t even remember what all is in there. I tend to overpack as it is. But I want to be ready for anything!

Thanks Russ — I’ll let the campground know your preferences!
For those who know they are coming and want to be assured of a spot, I will pre-pay for all of you, and you can just owe me. I suppose I should reserve the spots soon-ish, so maybe by week’s end?
And I think it is just $13 for tent campers…but don’t quote me yet. I will confirm when I make the reservations.

Did I ever contact you about a teeny tiny donation? Drop me an email!

I guess it’ll be both Friday & Saturday nights. The campground requires 2 nights for a weekend. You could definitely just try to get a spot for one night by just showing up, but I don’t know if they could guarantee that geocachers would then be near one another. But maybe that’s not a big deal. There has been a mention of doing a breakfast type thing….
And yep, it’s $15 per adult, per night.
But if anyone is interested, please let me know (who and how many, if you need electricity and/or a water hook up — I think that is extra?)
Great Job!!

Eric from Sky High told me that he has a number of sites available for a group that are near electricity and water (and restrooms) and would love to have us there. So if anyone is interested, let me know in the next few days and I will reserve some sites (adjacent ones). I believe he told me that these sites are $15 per person, and an extra $2 per person if you want water at your site as well.
Or, if someone has any other ideas, I’m game!
Bec
Yay! That’s your first milestone — on to the next! Best wishes!

Congratulations Corbor!
