Just me so far — most of my family think I’m obsessed. I’m trying to get my brother into it, but he lives in Illinois, and we haven’t been able to plan a good caching weekend in IL yet (I’m trying to convince him to do The Journal, since it’s near him)
I’ve got some friends interested though (they haven’t officially gotten into it yet though) as well as my Southern Living At Home (one of those in home party things). I’ve even introduced it to a few of my fellow greyhound friends.

so far just WI and IL for me too. But in couple weeks I’ll be adding IA, MO and KS!! And then come October — IN, OH, WV, PA, MD, DE….that’ll be exciting!
Bec
I definitely want some! Not sure how many at this time though. I think I last posted 2 or 3. I’ll get them at the campout!
Bec
oh, never mind, a little research on the cache page told me that the Magellan 4 pin will be available — I believe that is what I’ve got (except mine has a big crack in it.)
Bec
thanks!

As long as you are free of parasite and the like — I have no problems!

Oh stop! Now you’re getting me all paranoid!!

yes? this type will be there? or no?
(sorry, just getting antsy…)
BecI will be using my expensive toy to help me on my way up there (Magellan RoadMate 700). I have to exclude parts of the route that have road construction. I checked out the DOT road construction site, and it didn’t appear that any of the roads I will use are closed, but wanted to check to be sure, as I don’t really know the roads in that area.

Okay — so this looks to be a major concern. I was thinking of bringing along my bike cable lock (if I bring my bike). Perhaps we could lock the coolers closed and attach them to trees (this is thinking of that 100 lb. coon — yikes!!)? Or would it just be best to leave food in the car (except for the folks that have to park in the “overflow” lot)?
I’m sure most of you are veteran campers, but I’m still awfully green at this and need as much advice as possible.
I think raccoons are adorable, but they carry tons of parasite and whatnot — I don’t want them in my food!
And skunks are good scavengers too. Sometimes really good beggars….perhaps if you ask, I’ll share a few of my skunk encounter stories….

I’m sure I could have found something better to spend the money on too! Unfortunately, there was this little voice that said, “buy it. You will definitely use it. You should buy yourself something special once in a while…” and that voice was my mom! We should stop shopping together!
After I dropped Mom off at home, Dad spied it and asked how many hundreds of dollars I had spent on it. The look on his face when I told him was hilarious!

right — this is basically the same technology you would see in some of the higher end vehicles (not in my Blazer!) and in rental cars. It’s a funky map type thing that directs you to a location (address or the like) with a map and spoken directions. I got it at The Sharper Image, so you know it’s just basically an expensive toy. My hope is that in a year or so, Magellan will make it possible to upload waypoints through the USB connection, or a memory card. From what I’ve been reading, Magellan will upgrade the included software…
But I got this for strictly driving purposes. I might be able to make it work for some geocaching (maybe, if I’m creative and plan it out.)
It’s nifty, at any rate.
oooh! Cool! I really want a Jeep!
Bec
I guess mine’s not too tough to figure out…although my hound is getting a little old to find much interest in geocaching.
