Great!, keep us posted. I can’t wait to hear what you have lined up for the kids.

I think the picnic would be a good place to open discussions. Perhaps we can have an town hall meeting at the conclusion of the day’s events. People could stay after to discuss the DNR meeting if they choose to. This way we wouldnt be taking away from the picnic event.

I foresee that a more formal meeting for the purpose of discussing this issue will probably be needed.

If we list it as an event, we can all chalk up another find for coming to the meeting

    Dave,

I’ve set out two containers and stamps for you. They are hanging on my mailbox right next to the front door of my house.

I should be home so ring the bell and say “Hi”. If not, the containers will be there.

The whole park is open to caching. If you place them too far from the picnic, people may choose not to walk that far. If you place them to close, you may have multiple teams searching at the same time.

Your best bet is to get a park map and check out the shelter area. From there you should get a feel of how far is too far.

This is what I’m doing (which doesnt work)

    1. download the prc file and easygps file and save it to my briefcase.

    2. unzip the file from my briefcase.

    3. open the saved folder and which contains the prc and easy gps.

    4. double click on the prc file.

    5. this opens up the hotsync download screen and shows the prc file on the list to be hotsynced.

    6. perform a hotsync.

    7. Open up the mobilpocket reader on the PDA and select my search result from the library index.

Other Mobipocket news periodicals are being downloaded, but the geocache search results are not there.

    8. PDA states “file not found”

Just a note not related to this topic, we do hope to have a PDA format available for the picnic that we can beam to each other. It would be a listing of the caches and clues that you can decode on your Palm device.

I have not forgotten about Sam. I figure he must be on vacation since we haven’t heard from him lately.

I still have 2 stamps from the Campout. I believe I will have a container for Sam.

    You got it Dave!

On the park map, we will be at #9, Homestead Hollow area. The name of the shelter is the “Trecker shelter”.

It’s a really nice picnic area. Outside of the shelter are picnic tables under a grove of large trees. There is a small pond, windmill, and individual small grills near in the picnic areea also.

Mark, I’m kinda confused, can you straighten me out please

I’ve had emails with you (MrAndersen), and Paul (Sprint24). As far as I know, I have not discussed the cache placing with “WIRACER24”.

I received a email from Paul (Sprint24) today indicating he was going to help out.

    Signed,

I finally got a chance to watch the TMJ4 segment and I must say, it was great!

It was informative and brought across the positive aspects of geocaching. Definately a good piece to show any park officials.

Kudos to Arn, Aryn, Socko, and Mel!

    (Thanks for the tape Steve)

But more importantly, does anyone have the means of making tape copies of it or an Mpeg on a CD? I’m thinking this would be a great PR handout to federal, state and local officials.

That would be great if someone is able to put it on CD.

I have a relative that just purchased some video editing software for their computer. Once I install the Firewire board, we may be able to copy it.

Steve, I work in Waukesha (3pm-11pm). Maybe you would be able to drop it off some night. Or if you live in the city limits, I could have someone pick it up from you.

    Doh!

I’ve been working so much overtime, I forgot what day it was. I was planning on setting the VCR but forgot.

Did anyone tape it? If so, ahem, can I borrow it?

    Thanks

    in reply to: PDA #1739405

I bought a PDA for Geocaching last week. I bought the Sony Clie PEG-S360. It has high resolution screen, 16 MB memory, accepts Sony memory cards for expanded memory or for listening to MP3’s, viewing pictures off your Sony camera. It also has the rechargable lithium ion battery which is nice. I got it on sale for $154.00 after rebate at Circuit City.

Now I am just looking for some cool programs to use for geocaching. So far I’ve downloaded the “Hint decoder program” and “Geoclipping” program. Both work real nice.

Does anyone have any other “must have” programs that they use for caching that they can share?

Also, are any of you using AvantGo channels on their PDA for geocaching. I made a custom channel for the Wisconsin Geocache search. I can get full details on the first few caches, but caches down the page show not available for viewing. Any ideas how to fix this?

Don’t panic, it’s probably just Yawningdog’s “what’s that smell cache”

Eating garlic mustard weeds, munching on puffball mushrooms, I suppose next your going to tell us to eat the rocks in “stone soup”
