While caching at the Wisconsin Geo-Campout this past weekend, I noticed mustard growing everywhere!

I saw some places that people uprooted the plants and let them lay on the ground.

I hate to imagine what my back would feel like had I started pulling while caching

    That photo is great!

Some people have accused me of using photoshop on my Tale of the crypt log.

    I swear it is legit!

Oops, should have been Conservation Patron license.

Basically, it covers gun deer hunting, gun bow hunting, small game, spring turkey, fall turkey hunting, fishing, trapping, veh admission sticker, magazine subscription, trail pass.

    Robin,

    That is way too cool!

How long did it take Ken to home in on you?

What are the rules for the one day stickers that you buy?

Since I have a Conservation Patron’s license, all I need to do is show them my license and they give me a day pass.

I wonder where I would put it since it is similar to a “post-it” note

I like it a lot CC.

    Nice gentle reminder.

I gave it a shot today while in the area. I walked away saying “HUH?”

I will try back after having a large java.

Thanks for the pat on the back CC.

While arranging a meeting place to exchange some items, Ken had the idea of hitting this cache.

So, with a weather alert radio in one hand, gps in the other hand, and a carbon graphite kevlar paddle in the other hand (wait, that makes three hands), we forged on to conquor this virgin.

There were large whitecaps on the river as the strong southern winds blew against the current. But not even the the raging currents, nor the hurricane force winds could prevent this kevlar propelled racing skiff from striking gold. The smell of blood was in the air! (or was it the rotting dead goose on the shore?)

It was unfortunate that the container was soaked. Those PVC threaded tubes are not water tight. I guess you always need to put the threaded side down.

I didn’t really expect anyone to take notice of our triumph. Thanks for the kudos.

Congratulations John! We ought to start a list of all those in the 1 year club.

I also like caching in the cooler weather. I think that spring and fall are the best because the bug numbers are low.

The hot buggy days of summer make it difficult to hunt the caches located in wooded or low land areas.

Come May, I’m sure I will be soaking my flesh with deet while hunting. A mosquito head net is also a VITAL part of summer caching gear.

With the mild temps and low snowfalls, this was an excellent winter for caching.

    We have them placed!

Planned on placing 3 new caches, but due to time constraints, we ended up placing 2.

One is a virtual in a beautiful park. The other is a hike up a huge mound.

Glad everyone in S/E Wisconsin is enjoying the warm weather while I’m getting soaked in Black River Falls. 55 degrees and raining. The rain started Thurs morning at 8:30 and didnt stop til midnight.

Hopefully it will improve this weekend. We plan to hide some caches while turkey hunting.

I purchased a set of metal punches at Menards a number of years ago.

I was trying to make metal address tags to affix to my Chrismas decorations outside.

They worked very poorly for me. I was having a hard time getting the letters to show up.

I even tried pieces of metal cut from soda cans and it wouldnt show up on them either.

It was quite a time consuming process. I got frustrated and returned the punches to Menards and got my money back.

Best way to get them off is to use a razor blade. Any remaining adhesive can be easily removed with nail polish remover or alcohol (or gasoline on a Q-tip).

Another option would be to purchase a reduced rate sticker. You can purchase a 2nd State Park sticker for $10. You need to provide them with the serial number from a sticker you already own.

I get a sticker included in my Patron’s license, and always pick up a 2nd one for the 10 bucks. Its a good thing.
