We did cache maintenance on 14 of our caches a few days ago. Only two really needed it, but checked on the other 12 while we were at it. Now to check on some of the others more far away.
Maybe some day there will be a Sweet Treat Meet & Greet #6. Just saying!
Great stuff people. Glad to see Carson was involved in the proposed changes too; as the most recent past president he’s good at organizational issues like that. I do have one minor suggestion – defining the order of “ranking officer.” The proposed revision currently states “The highest-ranking officer of the current Board of Directors who is not a candidate themselves shall oversee elections.” The president and vice president are obviously the highest ranking officers, but which officer is next after that – treasurer or secretary?
Let me be the first to wish you all a blessed and happy Thanksgiving (although a day early).

Craphas! Up to 2 inches by tomorrow in Milwaukee. I’ve always said that the most dangerous day to drive is the first snowfall of the season. Some new drivers or southern transplants don’t know how to safely drive in the stuff.
August 2022 pathtag update. There are now well over 150 known WGA members/teams past and present that have created at least one pathtag (plus some group tags). Shown here is one pathtag from each of them (some have created many pathtag designs). Pathtags are trackable personal coins/swag similar to travel bugs that people trade or put in caches, except that when you find one you get to log it and keep it!
Moreover they cost just a fraction of the price of geocoins!New people on this list include 2 Book Lovers, pw621, CMeCachin44, and Geogrinches.

Wow, VERY nice job on the revisions, and all grammatically correct too!
My favorite revision is regarding “active member” status. The current bylaws state that one must register every year at the WGA website, and now it is being proposed that “active” membership simply requires a registered active member to log in to the website at least once annually. Nice.
Along those lines, a thought that I had is regarding voting members for the board of directors elections. Currently, to be a voting member, one must log into the WGA website AND register your membership at least once per year. Otherwise per the revised bylaws their membership will have lapsed and therefore they would be unable to vote. I don’t have a problem with that, but it would be good to point that out via a newsletter or Facebook post, for those who don’t frequent the WGA site. I like the wording that they don’t have to re-register every year for membership, simply log in.
Actually hamfam, your suggestion of getting member volunteers to do the planning/coordinating of Events is exactly how all of the groups I have associated with work…. Going to a 3 year term would be most productive if it included more member involvement. Knowing HOW to ask for members to volunteer is the real issue. Putting out a general “We are looking for volunteers to…” does not work. Directors need to use the Membership List/ Map To PERSONALLY ASK individual members to help with a certain task or 2….
Having the BOD letting go and delegating work and empowering volunteers on committees is a key to avoiding board burnout. Let the board of directors direct people. I just don’t see the BOD recruiting/engaging members effectively to help out. Recently the WGA website added a list of over 20 committees that members could potentially serve on. It’s posted in the WGA info section at https://wi-geocaching.com/committees/. I see very few non-board members serving on those committees. Get some non-board members on those committees (well, most of them, some are appropriate for board-only). Ask people to serve on a committee, label it as a committee, and you’ve just given a member some ownership of that area and a foothold on perhaps eventually running for the board themselves. Until that happens I feel the three year term is too big of a commitment for many.
Hey boys and girls. It’s been a while since I posted in the TS thread.
Just thought I’d post something very cool that was recently added to the WGA website and may have escaped your notice. It’s all about OPPORTUNITIES to connect and serve. I hope you see the value in this. Thoughts?

Ooftah. I received over 2,000 emails for cache bash logs. At least reading “TFTC” goes relatively quickly.
I just updated GC88VVE with this revised image.

I pledge allegiance, to the Garmin.
