I’m off to a great start for 2017 with bird watching. Look at all of these great birds I found at GC6X8ZZ.

We found 31 of the 34 caches from this weekends Waukesha Janboree, only 3 more to go.
The wife and I are planning a “retreat” in Vegas this summer sans children. Haven’t priced this one yet. I am hoping to add Nevada, California, and Arizona.
If you’re headed from Vegas to CA, you’ll probably be passing through Pahrump NV, where my sister recently moved. We have about 100 smileys in Pahrump. 🙂 And they have a “Welcome to Pahrump” park & grab when passing through that town. 🙂 🙂
:13:
The goal was to get the word out early to our members.
Thanks for organizing, it’s on the calendar!
….I found another horse ranch yoga retreat located about 20 miles from Rocky Mt. Nat’l Park. What’s included and the type of weekend are very similar to the one in Montana, but it was less than 500 bucks. Like, one fourth the cost. Go figure.
Make sure you don’t have to sleep with the horses. Just sayin.
Gwyn, Kim and I go on numerous weekend retreats, always promoted as “marriage retreats” or “getaway weekends.” They’ve always been however through churches or Christian organizations. I don’t think they’ve ever cost more than $1,000. We’re going to a getaway weekend during labor day weekend just north of Rhinelander that costs I think about $230 per person. Not quite as adventuresome as a kayaking or horseback riding retreat; I would expect those kinds of retreats to cost right where you stated them to be.
Two thoughts here on the WGA website. First, this WGA website has all of the posts stored here from its beginnings in 2002. I know I’ve found them valuable when researching the history of both the WGA and geocaching in general. You should check out some of the messages from 2002 & 2003, fascinating stuff.
Second, I have a suggestion. It’s regarding a Facebook page vs. a Facebook group. Create a WGA Facebook GROUP. The WGA already has a Facebook PAGE, which only moderators/admins can post to. Facebook pages are more for one-way communication, such as a business or an organization communicating information to its members. Any messages posted by regular members on such pages are only shown on a sidebar if one looks for them; they cannot start a new topic. Not very exciting. A Facebook GROUP, however, allows all participants to post pictures, videos, and messages that all participants can see. The Wild Bunch Facebook group for SE Wisconsin for example has really taken off, I believe because of perhaps the lack of comparable opportunity anywhere else. If the WGA had a FB group where people could contribute their thoughts and adventures instantly, it would go a long, long way toward having greater participation, two-way communication, more active membership, and “relevance.” Think of this scenario: you find a really great cache on a 1 mile hike through the woods, and you want to tell others about it. You can post it on the WGA website, and about 15 people, possibly more, will see it. That’s it. If you try to post it to the WGA Facebook PAGE, it will not appear in the main newsfeed. Buzzkill. You could post it on your own Facebook page, and your geocaching Facebook friends will see it. Your non-geocaching Facebook friends will hopefully tolerate it. Those are your main social media options. Unless you consider a Facebook GROUP; there’s numerous geocaching-related ones out there for Wisconsin, and if you post to one of those groups the details of your great adventure, all members will see it as you convey your enthusiasm.
There are definitely advantages to having a WGA Facebook page, which we currently have. All info is accurate and relevant info officially handed down from the WGA to its members. But perhaps we are missing out by not having a WGA Facebook group as well to facilitate communication between members. The WGA website is a valuable tool, but it’s not going to replace the Book of Faces for communication between members. A new topic for the next Board of Director’s meeting?
Congratulations Mark & Pat, way to explore the state and log a fantastic milestone!
I’ll do my part. Someone else can make the delivery and hit the home run.
I’m stuck on #127. I’ve looked at my answers (856 & 147) several times; I come up with a checksum of 59, but the cache page states checksum is 64. What am I missing? The puzzle doesn’t seem that hard.
Problem solved. When I looked at the seal of Wisconsin, the image google directed me to was not quite right, and yielded incorrect info.

FTP for the month of December. Everybody else must be working on geoart puzzles.
Question B, there’s no mention on the cache page about an additional $5 option for the bison contest, just the original $2 for one of 50 bison tubes. The only place I can find a number of attended logs is on the event page, that number is 41. G wants me to divide that number by 5. 8.2 is a valid answer? -The Happy Hodag!
For “B” there actually isn’t supposed to be any mentioning of an additional $5 option on the event page; that’s simply the number you have to add to the stated price on the event page to calculate the puzzle coordinate. However I’m with you on “G.” There’s 41 attended logs, which isn’t cleanly divisible by 5 into a single digit number. My guess is that there were 40 logs at the time of the puzzle creation, and somebody logged their attendance since then. If that’s the case 40 attended logs divided by 5 would be nice and tidy. For what it’s worth, 55 teams signed the paper log sheet at the event, but only 41 have logged it online so far, so it could change some more. It would be nice if there were a checksum on #30 so we could calculate the questionable variable “G.”
It appears there are quite a few caches without checksums for verification of the coords. Are checksums being added for the pages that don’t have them?
