I read something about the 2005 coins a while back but can’t find the message thread. If I recall correctly, after the minting of the 2005 gold-colored geocoins, there was an error on Groundspeak’s part and an extra 75 tracking codes were given to the WGA. With those extra “free” codes the WGA minted 75 special edition 2005 coins that were silver on one (or both?) sides. That special coin was not intended to ever be sold, but was to be used only as a special service reward coin for service above and beyond the norm (reviewers, special achievements on behalf of the WGA, etc.). Only a few were given out each year, with (I think) maybe a dozen or so awarded within the first 4 or 5 years. Are those the 2005 coins that are in inventory? If so, we may not want to sell those but dole them out very sparingly in the years to come.
Happy birthday Pete!
Just came across this interesting set of stats while perusing through the archives. Here’s a list of Wisconsin’s top cache finders, back in 2003 (list compiled by Ray from Trudy & the Beast). It’s not how many caches they found just in 2003, it’s what they have found lifetime as of 10/2003. That’s a whole lot of what we would now consider old-school classic caches!

Nope. Can’t count.
Congrats on #1,300, and sweet photo collage!
Congrats Bill and Vicki on reaching 5 digits! This has been an exciting past week or two for you. First you put HTML and geocheckers on some of your puzzle cache pages, then you hide a bunch more cool caches, then you make that most excellent milestone poster board, then you find #10,000. Way to go – what next?!!? 🙂
Congrats you two – I’m sure it’s a very satisfying accomplishment! :like: :like: Hopefully someday for us…
Chris I had already mentioned to you a topic when we were at the chili feed. But here’s one more topic – a seminar day of geocaching-related topics.
It would be good to build in a 30+ day delay in marking a trackable as missing in case someone is slow to log their trackable finds.
Good idea. I was at a cache today that had all nine TB’s missing, most of them since 2011.
On our way to Door County. Got me an old silo to find, among other things.
Congratulations again to the new BOD. GC4NBQK has been updated and will be updated again after officers are detected, elected, and selected – they won’t be neglected!
This is exactly what I suspected.
Good call Marie. As you suspected the results have been collected and the cache is affected, so after officer’s elections the cache page will need to be corrected so it can be perfected.
Congratulations again to the new BOD. GC4NBQK has been updated and will be updated again after officers are detected, elected, and selected – they won’t be neglected!
Getting in on page 600 🙂
