-6 here in Wauwatosa. I think I’ll stay in most of the day. I was going to go to the dump today to discard our old family room carpet; the new one turned out pretty nice. I guess that can wait. But it’s Kim’s birthday today so we’re going out tonight for dinner with family.
Kim and I have always been hikers, so most of the outdoors stuff (ice cleats, camping items, GPSr’s, etc.) we would still be able to use. However, we have a lot of containers in many sizes as well as swag that likely wouldn’t make the transition (I keep an eye out for quality containers on a regular basis at Goodwill and other thrift stores)
I already know what I’d probably do, and so far we’ve done it twice. A few times in the past we’ve hosted or co-hosted CITO events, with a *twist*. What we’ve done is select a large park that needs cleanup (e.g. a mile long), mark coordinates for 20 to 30 areas that have a lot of trash, and have assigned areas for most of the participants for cleanup. The assignments are optional but everyone seems to want one. At their assignment (as presented in sealed envelopes) are the coords for their unique and assigned area, with a D/T rating, and at that area they will find a hidden temporary cache container to keep for their efforts, fully camoed with swag and log book. And the caches aren’t micros either; they’re almost all small or regulars. It may sound like overkill, but in large parks there are vast areas that may be off trail that don’t get any attention otherwise. If we were to stop geocaching, this would possibly be the way that we would have our send off, giving back one last time. And in doing so we could part with all of the caching stuff we no longer intended to use.
However, having said that, it’s unlikely that it will ever be our parting gift, since we don’t have any plans to stop caching. We do however, intend to continue hosting an occasional CITO every once in a while. You’re welcome to join us!
Cool. :13:
As long as we don’t miss American Idol!
FYI… On February 29 the FOTD at the Sussex blue-roof place is Strawberry Shortcake.
I may just pass on my usual hot fudge sundae for the FOTD.
Now that recent logs has been reset, look at which cache has been the most active. 🙂

Good guess.

OK what is the code for the #13 graphic?
Bart you may want to edit that tracking code out…

Dang. I can almost make out the tracking code but not quite.
The Gifted Snowbuster white elephant geo-event in Milwaukee this week was a lot of fun. I won’t say how many pictures I took, but I deleted over 300 of them afterward.
An easy :ftp: for me and a win for the Packers!
It’s currently 1 degree in Milwaukee.
Going golfing tomorrow. There’s an indoor place in Waukesha where you use your own clubs and drive an actual ball into a computerized soft screen. The screen projects an image of the “course” you’re playing and you see your ball travel, along with speed and distance. Playing a full 18 holes there despite the cold weather. The ultimate golf video game. 🙂
