I have no idea what those last two posts are supposed to mean. Spam?
Welcome Nancy. My wife and I live in Milwaukee and love geocaching too. We hope to run into you sometime, but we’ll be out of town for the event in Beaver Dam. Sometime in October there tentatively will be a geocaching continuing education event in Milwaukee, where there will be seminars all day on different aspects of geocaching. It ‘s a great event to learn all kind of things.
Of course, this WGA website is a great place to visit too! My favorite place at the WGA website has to the forum topic entitled “Thread Stealers with too much on their minds.”
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5205&start=97095&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=Over 97,000 messages from Wisconsin geocachers have been posted at that link, most of which have nothing to do with geocaching. 😀
Congrats on finding your first cache! Now you can log it online as found by clicking on the LOG YOUR VISIT box at geocaching.com at http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC57W0A_the-legend-of-the-flying-fish
Logging the cache at geocaching.com lets others know that the cache is still there, and it will keep track for you of what caches you have found. It’s also fun to read the logs that people have posted on the caches, sometimes even with pictures. 🙂
Again congrats on you first find, I hope you have a lot of fun exploring the great outdoors!
Good choice Scott, congrats!

A late birthday puzzle for beccaday… by link only:
Dangit. I just did Becca’s birthday puzzle and wasn’t logged in. Now I’m going to have to do it again. Sort of like finding a cache and forgetting to bring a pen.
😡Welcome to the WGA and thanks for introducing yourself!

Sadly, in 4+ years we only have found 14 Wisconsin waterfalls that qualify for Zuma’s Wisconsin Falling Water Challenge GC1XKGZ. You need at least 26 finds to qualify for the challenge cache. But we’ll keep working on it.
Rock Island shows up for me.

Some people who pursue a hobby too intensely may burn out. Those who went out caching with great gusto at the start may have found all of the caches close to them, may have met all the challenges that interested them, and may no longer enjoy looking for plastic in the woods (or on sign posts).
I still crochet, knit, garden, and do photography after many, many years. My husband still loves to fish, bow hunt, and ride his bicycle. So far, after almost seven years, we still enjoy geocaching… but we have taken it at our own pace and do it in a way that gives us the most pleasure.
Maybe geocaching as it is now will be a fad that will at some point have run its course as many people move on to the next thing, leaving the hobby as it was originally for those of us who are in it for the long term.
Wow, Pat, very wise words. Especially that first sentence. We’re in it for the long term (as far as we can tell) – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

ATTENTION, ATTENTION…
It is with great pride that we can now announce the 47th and Final WGA State Park Geocache.
Many thanks to dcexplorer for taking up the Trail Boss mantle.
GC578B8 Rock Island: WGA State Park Series
We’re heading to Door county & Rock Island this weekend. Gonna get us some DC Explorer, Sagasu, Capt. Ed, & Northwoods Tom caches. 🙂
Here’s anew one, from caching this past weekend.
When we look back at this WGA campout, here are some of the things that stand out that will be remembered for a long time
– Kayaking to find geolivestrong’s new cache on the water (and borrowing Dr. Dolittle’s kayaks – thanks Dr. D)
– Participating in the CITO and pulling out lots of garlic mustard (for the first time)
– Dinner Saturday night at Ishnala supper club within the park with Uncle Fun, Geocaching Widow, Mr. Greenthumb, and Sunshine and getting really silly afterward. It was an $85 dinner but worth it!
– Participating in our first Dutch oven cookout
– It was the only camping experience we’ve ever done where we forgot to pack our sleeping bags! 😳 Good thing we had out air mattresses and blankets! -
