Congrats Wendy on reaching #1,500!
2012 has really been your year – after 5 years of averaging a little less than 100 caches/year, you’re already almost at 1,000 finds just for 2012 alone. And I had no idea you had such a long streak going for this year. Good luck at extending your streak and going 365 straight or at reaching 2,000!
Wow, way to grab #3,000 with style! Congrats!
Congrats on 20,000, wow!

Congrats, we hope to complete the challenge some day but we have a long way to go. When we grow up we wanna be just like you!

has anyone released theirs yet?
We’ll be sending ours out into the wild soon, most likely in November when we have more time. ๐
Congrats on 1,000 – that’s a significant achievement! I hope you and your family enjoy the next 1k just as much!
Congrats on 15,000 – that’s a rare accomplishment. You’ll be at 15,010 in seemingly no time! 8)
A concern of mine that hasn’t been mentioned yet is that if someone had a wi-geocaching address, and said or did something boneheaded, it could reflect badly on the whole organization, even though the actions or messages from that email address wouldn’t necessarily reflect the policies or opinions of the WGA. I like the idea of the officers of the organization having such an address, but to open it up to all members might lead to some embarrassing situations down the road.
Got mine yesterday ๐
Wauwatosa’s never been much of a high crime area, since it’s a suburb just outside of Milwaukee. My wife would feel perfectly comfortable walking around alone, and often has. The event itself is in a park area next to Wauwatosa’s swimming pool (closed for the season) and a golf course, in a very safe area.
@fitbobcat the goodie bags have a variety of cheap stuff in them, suitable for swag to place in caches, and one I think might have a million dollars in it 8)I just checked out terracaching for the first time. Or at least I tried to. You can only get as far as the registration page if you don’t have an account. I’m not able to tell if they have many caches listed or not. I don’t know what their search functions are like, their user interface, their membership numbers; nothing. If you want an account with them, you have to have two or more members sponsor you. But you cannot look up who is a member. But that’s OK – I’m very pleased with Groundspeak.
We’ve found about 20 or so pathtags in the past 2-1/2 years. We hope to eventually get one of our own, but most likely not anytime soon. It’s strange – we really like them but admittedly don’t do anything with the ones we have – they just accumulate. We haven’t logged them online (do people really do that?) or put them in a display album. What I probably like about them the most is the sentimental value of receiving one from a friend or getting one from a great cache or FTF.
Congrats on completing your D/T grid!!
I know that Amita was just kidding, but I bet eventually you’ll have that grid filled in with at least 2 per square. A new goal to shoot for! Some day.
It’s great that you were able to do it together, very nice!
You can look up who owns the land at http://www.wisconsin-wi.com/wisconsin-gis-maps.html by looking at a county GIS map. Then you can ask the owner (whether it’s an individual, the DNR, etc.) for permission. It’s always good to get permission.
You can run a pocket query for challenge caches in WI and you’ll find lots of challenge caches and caching series. Some have a specific expiration date – for example, the Amazing Race series just ended last week, 33 caches total. Another example – there are three “Survivor” games that I know of taking place right now in WI. Other challenges are open to everyone and are ongoing with no expiration. Some examples:
– WISCONSIN RUSTIC ROAD CHALLENGE (GC2C4J0) – Find 22 WRR caches along designated Wisconsin Rustic Roads, including two from each of the four quandrants of the state
– OLD SILO CHALLENGE (GC3AXA5) – Find at least 50 of the 100 Old Silo caches placed by Mr. Greenthumb & Sunshine
– WSQ- CEMETERY HIDE CHALLENGE (GC3E53D) – Find at least 50 Wisconsin cemetery caches
– WISCONSIN ROADSIDE WIERDNESS CHALLENGE (GC2M3MW) รขโฌโ Find 20 of the listed 40 caches that are Wisconsin odditiesSo were you looking for certain challenge caches, or specific “contests” that last only for a defined amount of time where you compete against others?
