If you talk to my wife she would be glad to help, but unfortunately I’m in charge of maintenance.
You mean you made it? I thought Seldom did.
Hey Sarah, Tonya says you can cache with us. We’d love for an extra set of eyes. Maybe we can help you with a few puzzle caches like the one near yours and hers former work.
Well when we are down visiting my folks, we might just go look for them.
We have a confession to make. Our first attempt at moving a geocoin ended in disaster. We tryed to log it and we couldn’t. My wife took it anyway. We dropped it off in a cache with the hope the next finder can fix it. We have since learned from that mistake and now have our own TBs out. Right now one of ours is in Nevada and not moving but being discovered. The rest are in stand still for the longest while.
Well they do solve the puzzle but I’m acting like a teacher. While in the field they are the teacher and I’m the student. I don’t give them the answers. I do hope that eventually we won’t need each other and that we can be equals both at the table and in the field.
Me personally I think if you help by teaching them and they teach you, both of you grow as cachers.
How about if another cacher who is awesome at finding but sucks at solving asks if you could teach them how to solve or decipher the hint in exchange for helping you find that cache A couple of cachers have asked this of me. Since my kids are cached out from this summer (the up side is better logs). I need help from healthier and less disabled than myself to reach our goal. I’m seriously considering this arrangement for at least a few. I know I won’t reach CJ’s puzzle challenge. I need at least 30 more finds.
I have a question for everyone. If you receive a puzzle solve through previous finder or by accident, can you count it solved if you dissect it to the point where you found where they got the answers? Example, I stumbled upon a waypoint of tribute to old silver. For the past 2 years I’ve used the knowledge of that waypoint to figure out where the answers came from. I call it solving backwards. Can I count that solved?
As a CO I do love a good log, but as some one pointed out some people aren’t really good writers. This past summer my kids were in charge of the logs. I did point out a stamp log feature and they used that instead of putting a nice log. Since school has started I’ve taken back control of log writing. Please don’t judge people because they just stamp the log. Another cacher emailed me about the stamp my kids left. He didn’t bother check why it was a stamp. Getting my kids out of the house is difficult to say the least. If they are expected to write a long log they won’t come out. Please be kind.
I know I’ve been racking my brain on two of them. Now I know some of the secrets. Bwah ha ha
There is also a good study course of puzzle caches in Florida. I’ve been using these as helpful guides as well as asking seasoned puzzle masters for general advice. The best advice I got was “to understand the puzzle, you need to understand the puzzle owner”. Some puzzle owners scare me so I don’t want to understand them.
Tribute: to old silver is a cache that requires you to have at least a 1000 finds. I have only 104 left to find
Congrats I hope we get that much in next few years
We cached so much we hit 600 without knowing it
how much for the unit?
