Snowing in Waukesha now. And 10 o’clock news is leading with pictures of the blizzard around the state. Brrrrr. Looks like no shoppin’ tomorrow. . . just staying in and watching the Packers.
Wonder if the Giants ever made it to Minneapolis. Last I heard they were stuck on a bus in KC.
Interesting to hear what’s going on around the state. Here it’s 35 degrees and raining. Raining hard. There are only a few pitiful patches of snow left from earlier this week.
Well, how cool is that? Thanks for posting. We have a place up there and are kind of excited to think there are moose hanging around. We’ll be up next weekend, so we’ll be watching!
By the way, you’re right about watching out for them. We’ve been in Alaska a lot and have been told often not to get too close. You see them all over Anchorage and they don’t go sprinting off (like deer) when they see humans.
Happy trails.
Pioneer Point GC146NQ is fun. We’ve taken our canoe out and have walked over the ice in January (LCG) to get there.
09/19/2010 at 3:21 am in reply to: To anyone who has hit any milestone the last couple weeks… #1935762Well, we haven’t hit any milestones, but our van should hit 300,000 miles in a week or two. And . . . a lot of those miles were spent getting us to trailheads and caches.
Happy trails.Yes, congratulations from us, too! That is an awesome trip!
A milestone, great scenery, and the desert southwest. What fun.We took a roadtrip to Utah (and other points west) in July/August. It was 107 degrees in Arches. Brutal. But. . . I’ll be missing the heat come January when we’re digging through the snow in the northwoods.
Happy trails.
07/12/2010 at 1:39 am in reply to: June LCG contest is in the bag… or the jar (42, that is) #1933010Oh yes, congratulations from one more lonely team! There is something satisfying about trekking out to find a cache that’s not been visited for awhile. And we’d like to recommend Are You Game? GCWTPD. It’s between Antigo and Summit Lake, not far off Hwy. 45. It’s a good one.
Happy trails.
Congratulations from two Waukesha County cachers that certainly appreciate your hides! Your first FTF? Really? Wow.
Happy trails.
(Sorry about the ribs.)
I’d get in on this, too. I have an extra tag that I’ve been meaning to send out.
We would be interested in joining the group, too, if the final date works for us.
Nicely put, OPS. We haven’t voted on the COTM either, but will for Eagle Source. We trekked out there last February and had a great time, though I think we would have really enjoyed going out with your group for the grand adventure (we got back to our vehicle and had water and Wheat Thins). Enjoyed looking at the pictures you all posted. Brought back memories.
Happy trails.Interesting thread. We hiked (well, snowshoed) out to this one last February. It was a day well spent. I highly recommend it. We, too, parked on Atkins Road by the service gate. I just added a picture of the gate to our log it you want to see what it looks like. I think what helped us get to the cache in a pretty straight line was a good old compass. We just have the little Etrex Legend. We like it, but sometimes in thick trees it doesn’t keep up with us. If we know which cardinal direction we should be heading in, we just check the compass. (Not that anyone needs our advice.)
You’ll have a great time. Winter is probably the best time to do this one. I’ll take snow over mosquitoes ANYTIME!
Happy trails.Congratulations from one more “Lonely Cacher”!
Happy trails.
I always carry it on in my backpack. Never turned it while in flight, but this got me thinking. We’re heading to Alaska Thursday, and B hates flying. Maybe the GPS can amuse him as we travel. Hmm.
This was the first time I checked out the INATN website. Lots of numbers.
It was interesting to see our statistics.Anyway, here are our numbers:
Wisconsin 59%
Alaska 38%
Michigan (UP) 1 %
Illlinois .4% (picked up two caches on the drive north from O’Hare)
Minnesota 2% -
