Thanks for the welcome. (I spotted this thread just now)
Yeah, so far I’ve just been slowly finding the caches in the Wisconsin Rapids area. Haven’t really ventured outside this area just yet, but will soon have to since I’ve already got most of them in town.

I can’t make any commitments to attend events, since being a full time student means I haven’t got a lot of money to travel around the state, but I will try to get to what I can.

    About me:
I’m a Navy Submarine Veteran, served for just 5 years from 2001 to 2006, lived on the east coast the whole time (Connecticut, Maine, & New Hampshire). Thanks to the Navy, I’ve travelled to some pretty far off places and around again. Unfortunately I didn’t see much since the other side of the world when viewed from the inside of a submarine resembles very much like the inside of a submarine (subs dont have Windows, for those who dont get the joke)
This is a picture of my boat from 2005. We were coming into Bahrain (in the middle of the Persian Gulf). I’m in the photograph, I’m one of the guys in the guys bent over in the back, with my good side facing the camera. If you want info about submarines, you can google “Los Angeles Class Submarine” That should satisfy a curious mind, although I don’t mind answering questions. I actually enjoy talking about them, and I love telling sharing sea stories.

Thats actually when I started Geocaching, when I lived out east. I had a good friend from the Navy who was very in to it, and he and I would make finds together. I had my own account back then, but that account is since lost.
I created a new account late last fall, and have been into it pretty steady (although very casually) ever since. I expect to be a little more active once this snow melts off.

    How I got my name:
I’m very much into R/C, specifically helicopters. It’s a very technically challenging & rewarding hobby for me. The Dood part of it just means that I’m a Dood (Dude). Dood also means “Death” in the Dutch language, like the Grim Reaper, so that makes it fun, too.

This is one of my helicopters, the picture taken last fall at club field located between Wisc Rapids and Plover.

I’m also into airplanes. Here’s my friend Brian flying (hovering) his 90″ Edge 540

Lately, it’s been too cold to fly outside (funny that it isn’t too cold to go geocaching 🙂 ) So I’ve got an airplane specifically for flying indoors.
Perfect for a gymnasium or field house.

I’m also an avid guitar player (and other stringed instruments)
Music is very personal to me, and I have a great appreciation for most things having to do with music.
I’ve already incorporated music into apuzzle cache, and I can tell you already it won’t be the last, as I’m already working on another puzzle that will include a piece of music.
Since it’s hard to find a piece of music to fit a geocache, I thought I’d create my own. For the past week, I’ve been sitting down with a piece of blank sheet music, scribbling in the notes as I go. It’s proving to be more of a challenge than I first anticipated.

    Thanks for the help.
I think I may look for those ‘recently found’ ones. or more or less just play it by ear, I guess.

I’m still not a premium member, don’t know when that’ll be. (money is really tight being an old college student)
But all these “Pocket Queries” I keep hearing about… Those are just for PDA’s or iPhones or something?
I don’t own anything like that. Closest thing I have is a 10″ netbook.
Even my GPS is just an old Etrex Legend. I don’t even have a cable to download waypoints. I handwrite all my coordinates on a separate sheet of paper. It’s time consuming, but it gets the job done (slowly)

Who are the moderators? I can’t find any list, and I’ve yet to see a user with “forum moderator” next to their name.
    I don’t see a button where I can flag a thread to get a moderator’s attention.

If a moderator sees this post, I request that this thread is deleted 100% in it’s entirety.

At least now I’ve got 2 watchers on the listing that I didn’t have before.
Wouldn’t anyone find that odd considering its a brand new cache with zero finders?
Negative publicity is still publicity, so I guess I can’t complain there. 8)

in reply to: 48 hours without a FTF #1920129

I made this thread because I had a cache last 48 hours without a FTF.
I don’t know if thats the norm or not. Based on what I’ve seen so far, is that a fresh cache doesn’t last more than a few hours.
For me, in a way, it was an HONOR that a fresh cache would last so long, I suppose. While I doubt my puzzle would stump many people (I made it kid friendly for a reason), I expected it to at least intimidate a few at first glance. I

In no way was I getting impatient or upset I didn’t have a FTF’er.

But man, this thread sure went down hill. Im the bad guy now.
If I’m lucky I wont be ‘shunned’ by the community here. hmm.

I was in no way implying that your post was a hint to the cache in question. (I did get the joke..) I was more or less letting heliodood know that hints will happen. It’s much more fun when they happen on the cache page or in the picture gallery of the cache page.

At least on a cache page the CO can ask a person to edit their logs, or encrypt said log. In the worst case scenario, and as a last resort, a CO reserves the right to delete a log.

    90%, 75%…

Of the cemetery caches I’ve found (not many, Im still kinda new)
I’ve found 25% of them in a cedar tree, 75% that were NOT in a cedar tree.

HeloDood, lighten up. Every post that I’ve seen from you so far will do nothing to make you friends in the WGA.

Oh? And you looked at all of them? I looked at my own post history and I honestly can’t say I see where you’re coming from. Well, that is up until where I got mad and disabled a listing which I worked hard to create.
If you want me out to be a bad guy, so be it.

However, if it is decided that a profit should be made on this merchandise a new store will need to be started.

Thats what I’m saying. An account should be made by WGA, and items SHOULD be for profit, with profits benefiting WGA.

Disabled listing. Glad the 2 days spent creating a cache didnt go to waste. 🙁

I’ll go out there tomorrow and remove the cache container.

in reply to: 48 hours without a FTF #1920114

I suppose I might as well go ahead and archive the listing, right?

in reply to: 48 hours without a FTF #1920113

Even if it were in a tree, thats not a nice thing to blurt out when a puzzle cache (or any cache) is involved. 🙁

I’ll include my own hints in the little hint box myself if I feel they’re needed.
    Thanks.

I see “Team Rusch” from Fond Du Lac submitted the original design to CafePress. They last logged onto Geocaching on November 23, 2009, so I’m assuming they’re still around. Someone could get in contact with them.

I’d be more than happy to set up a CafePress store with the new design, and make sure the money goes to the Treasurer.
But I probably wouldnt be a good candidate for that. You probably want someone who’s been here longer, and someone you know is going to stick around.

IMO, I think one of the board members ought to take care of it. I’ve worked with Cafe Press in the past, and it’s so easy to do.

I do not know how to get the logo changed. I also know that WGA did not realize revenue from the previous store.

What do you mean by “did not realize revenue”?
Do you mean that the revenue was insignificant or…?

I looked at the old logo at Cafe Press
If you’re implying that no one bought any shirts with that logo, I dont blame them. No offense to whoever designed it, but it’s hideous.
It looks to me like someone threw it together in 5 minutes (or less) using Clip Art.

The new logo looks tons better. It’s something I wouldnt mind being seen wearing in public.

I suggest one of the WGA board members opens a new CafePress account (it’s free), that is if no one has access to the old account.

If someone does have access to the CafePress account, its as simple as deleting the old designs and uploading new ones.

Cafe Press makes most of the money, leaving only a few dollars profit to the owner.
If you sell 300 T-shirts, 100 hats, and another 200 sweatshirts, and 100 coffee mugs or water bottles, thats a lot of money to made.
The great thing is, you don’t need to pay any money up front with CafePress. They just take a percentage of what you sell.
