One thing I want to do is replace the rubber under the lid. The rubber on this can is probably 40 years old or older. I’ve been keeping my eyes open trying to find a good thick piece of rubber.

My big Ammo can wasn’t pretty enough, so I did something about it on this rainy day.
Looking a little better? What’dya think?

The paint color is “Italian Olive”. It’s as close to a military olive green as I can get. It shows up as gray in the picture.

Pretty cool. I saw a few of my own hides show up in the video.

Do you need to find a cache to ‘Like’ it?

Anyone can like it. You don’t even need to be a geocacher to like it.

I don’t have any problem with a rating system. It’s just that, get facebook out of it!

After a person likes something on facebook, all 100, 200 or however many of their friends on facebook would be able to look at the cache page, and see just what it is that person “liked”.
Each of those facebook friends might as well be treated as another potential curious muggle who’s trying to figure out just what exactly it is that a person likes.

Also, there is no way to “unlike” a cache. Once it’s “liked”, apparently you like it for good. No turning back, no changing your mind. Your name is stuck on that cache page forever, I guess.

I see you can now “like” caches for Facebook and nominate caches for the Lost and Found. Is this a good thing?

I just saw that. I think it’s pretty stupid. 🙄

we’ll leave our stamp imprint in your log book at the cache.

That brings up another question. For real letterboxers, would you rather see 1 logbook in the cache or 2?

I’ve only visited 1 other LBH, the Lady at the Lake. There were 2 books in that cache. I was unsure at first as to which book to sign.

The letterbox hybrid is currently up & running. As it sits, it is a Traditional cache with a crudely made, home made (by me) Rubber stamp.
Looking at a few other LBHs, mine almost looks wrong.

Am I cheating people out of the whole letterbox experience by not doing the story thing?

The cache is already in place and active. I guess I can tweak it by adding an offset waypoint in there. I could use some help though, since I’m feeling uninspired lately. Anyone have any ideas? PM me if you have any.

2006 Honda Accord 2.4 LX Sedan
    61,556 miles
    $10,700

I bought a brand new 2006 Accord V6 EX Coupe (6 speed manual)
I loved that car, just wish I still had it. I test drove the 4 cyl. version, both the coupe and the sedan.

All the Accords were very comfortable, Especially on long trips. I drove my Accord on a few 3-day, 3000 mile each way trips across the country. No sign of driver fatigue whatsoever.

I imagine the 4cyl Accord should get decent gas mileage. I got around 29mpg in my V6, driven aggressively.

One thing I noticed about the 4cyl Accord models, and the main reason I bought the 255hp V6 EX, is that they felt a little underpowered. It may have ample power for a grocery getter or trips on the interstate, but it wasn’t a very fun car, if you know what I mean.

The 2002 3.0 EX sounds like a good car (a little more my style), but $10K sounds like too much.

Question for the more experienced letterbox placers – Do most people double list them between the two sites?

Obviously I’m not an experienced letterbox placer.
But I have no intention whatsoever of cross-posting my LH cache.

A few weeks ago, I found one of Sandlander’s LHs. It wasn’t much different than a regular cache, except I had to read a story, move to a certain spot and from there move in X feet in a specific direction to locate the cache.

I thought it was neat mostly because I added a new icon to my profile.
I placed a LH for a similar reason.. It was just something different.

in reply to: letterbox hybrid caches #1896659

I found this to be a useful thread.
As of yesterday I placed my first Letterbox Hybrid cache. It’s awaiting publication. I believe that, when it is published, it will be the only LH in Wood County.

In response to someone’s comment how the LH cache goes unfound by a lot of geocachers while other’s nearby get found, I think I have a simple explanation for that. It probably starts with Pocket Queries. Most cachers filter out Mystery caches from their PQs and in the process, forget to check the LH icon.

Another explanation may have something to do with new cache notifications. I for one, don’t have my alerts set up for LH’s, (Only Trads, Multis and Mysteries) but thats about to change.

A brave soul to walk across the Petenwell barefoot…

I know what you mean. I just did Seldom | Seen’s Tibutary | Off the Hook GC153RQ cache yesterday. Waded through an area of waist-deep water to get to an island cache.

One of my biggest phobias about wading barefoot through opaque brown water is stepping on a corpse or something (or anything dead for that matter).
