My theory is it is another way of saying “numbers run”. More or less a series of caches with easy in & out access that allow for a somewhat direct route from cache to cache. I’ve looked at a few “tour” bookmarks and thats the impression I got.

Considering I don’t live too far away, and since I have a kayak (and no bike or extra vehicle), I’d like to get in on this.

I’ve got access to an extra kayak (although a shorty that tracks poorly in open water) if someone wanted to use it.

    1. GCWQBM, Down by the Old Mill Pond, is a terrific 3 part multi in a nice place. Nice walk in a great place.

I did “…Old Mill Pond” this afternoon and it was a terrific multi. Out of my my 130 finds, Old Mill Pond I think ranks #1 on my list.

Here’s an idea that someone might be able to work with–
On the reverse side of the coin put any text or graphics (i.e. the WGA logo)
REVERSED on the back of the coin (as if the coin was transparent or viewed in a mirror).

Might look kinda neat. Someone can try it.

Part of the reason I’m having an issue with the “coin must me easily identifiable as the the shape of Wisconsin”, is that, when the coin is viewed from the reverse side –and when the reverse side is almost indistinguishable from the front side (to those geocraphically challenged, perhaps– The back side is not easily recognizable as the the state of Wisconsin.

Thats hard to put into words, but I hope you can at least get an idea of what I’m trying to say.

I’ve recently had in my possession a geocoin that came with a note that says “Do not put me in caches that say coins may only be traded 1 for 1”
-among a bunch of other coin ‘guidelines’

That coin has helped me understand why 1for1 coin caches (or “TB prisons”) are not really a good thing.

Ive recently ordered some coins to set loose (and likely never see again).
With that coin I think I will include a similar note to the one I saw.

And I’m very against “TB Prisons” What to do with them? so many mixed emotions with those..
    Boycott them?
    “rescue” the contents?
TNLN and just go for the smiley?
what to do what to do…

I think Groundspeak should write a guideline prohibiting new caches with a 1 for 1 policy regarding travel bugs.. Just to remind everyone that TB’s are not in circulation to add to the appeal of a particular cache, but to travel.

And if not Groundspeak, maybe someone else locally… The WGA?

There are those out there that take this to the level that they grab every trackable in a cache if there are multiple travelers just ’cause they can.

I’d be OK with that. Just so long as they intended to move them.
They’re called “TRAVEL Bugs”, not “sit in some cache for several months at a time bugs”

“take one, leave one” policy on their caches.

I will never enforce such a policy. I disagree with it entirely.
The goal for a trackable is for it to move. They’re the property of their respective owners, NOT of the cache owner.
TB’s are NOT in circulation for a CO to use to boost the appeal of his/her cache.

While trackables are not swag, and perhaps, leaving swag and taking a trackable may seem in poor form, it is not against any rules. I am sure that this will get yeas and nays but that, in my mind, is the issue.

This is the least of my concerns. I don’t see it as poor form at all. If someone wants to “donate” swag to my cache, great!

The issue I will now have is a person taking my swag only leaving their TB.

    Left plastic ring. Took geocoin.
    Is that about it?

Flip it the other way around to make it “Took plastic ring. Left Geocoin”
Although this was no “plastic ring”

I’m just venting. I needed to vent. And give everyone a little friendly reminder. Not to beat a dead horse either as I’m sure this has been discussed.
I’m frustrated after what I read on a recent log on one of my caches.
I don’t want to stir the pot or go into details here.

So do you have a design you’d like to share?

In fact, I did. But not anymore. I’m an artist.
I had a few concepts I’ve been playing with.
They’ll just have to wait at least one more year.

Sorry my talents can not be of any use.

Ummmm..what’s difference if it’s shaped like a cow or the state?

A real life cow is a 3-Dimensional object that can be viewed from any angle, even underneath or behind if you’re brave enough.

Wisconsin, as we recognize it, is a 2-Dimensional shape viewed on a map.
Seeing the shape of Wisconsin reversed 180 degrees makes my head hurt.

I like some of the concepts, but I don’t like the coins in the shape of Wisconsin. If our state was shaped like Colorado I’d be OK with it.
I’d prefer a round or square coin with the state superimposed on the front and/or back.

With elaborate designs on both the front & back, I can see some geography challenged cachers (I believe they may exist) mistaking the front for the back and vise versa.

In my travels all around the country, you wouldn’t believe how many people I’ve met that have absolutely no idea where Wisconsin even is! Most of them say something like, “Thats like next to Canada, ain’t it?”

I first saw this in a thread on Groundspeak forum called “Lame Ammo Can Hides”. Joking, of course.
It was a response to those who are always complaining about “lame micros”.

I for one happen to like micros. The way I see it, as long as I’m just going to “TNLN”, it might as well be a micro.

One that comes up on that forum a lot is, “how do you keep the log in a 35mm canister dry?”. The answer: “put the 35mm film canister in an ammo can”

in reply to: Wazeecha Walking Trail– The unfindable? #1925135

There isn’t a square inch of this place I haven’t looked.
I’ve gotten on my knees and crawled around upside down looking for this thing.
I’ve searched up high and down low, even under the bridge to point of looking under rocks. Even examining rocks thinking one could be a fake rock?!

I’ve looked in individual cracks in the road and the barrier

I’ve searched the OTHER SIDE of the bridge!

Then I got smart about it and considered the T1 rating and focused on handicap accessible.

I can tell you that Bigfoot definitely did NOT get Wazeecha Walking Trail! 😉

You sure about that? Because I think I caught Bigfoot messing with the cache right about the time I showed up this morning.
In the time it took me to pull my camera from my coat pocket he was gone. Jumped into the lake.
If you look real close you can see the ripple on the water where he jumped in.
