You don’t have to ask to get sponsored. I get requests all the time (through the system). Usually, when I log on to offer sponsorship, they already have 2 or three offers.
They must have changed this, when I first got an account two years ago thats not how it worked. Now I understand why when I logged into the site the other day I got sponsorship emails the very next day without asking.
Either way I still think the sponsorship is a big turnoff and completely pointless.
I do have one major gripe about terracaching.com, its the ridiculous sponsor system. As people might already know when you join you need to get two sponsors by posting in the forums, otherwise you can’t use the site.
The issue I have had is sponsors revoking my sponsorship because I haven’t used the site in months, this has happened about 6 times. I wouldn’t care but that also revokes all the people I have sponsored too.
Maybe I am missing something but that alone is enough to turn me off. At least geocaching.com don’t have this popularity contest just to use the stupid site.
you might be talking about a website like http://www.takitwithme.com/
If you have a USB garmin device you can send waypoints and routes you create with google my maps. alternatively you can download the data as a GPX file and open in mapsource or any other program to load to your gps.
here’s a link to the takeitwithme demo.
If it were me I would set the cache difficulty at the maximum, since you have to complete other difficult caches to complete this one. Wouldn’t the terrain rating for the cache cover the actual difficulty of the cache anyway?
I use this macro to load my geocaches into my 60cx as custom POI’s instead of waypoints. you can have unlimited POI’s which are all stored on the data card instead of internal memory like waypoints. you also can have a much longer waypoint name and note with these than when using normal waypoints.
I still load my custom POIs with garmins custom POI loader software, but this macro separates everything for me into cache types, ect. which makes searching on the unit much nicer.http://gsak.net/board/index.php?s=07a34ea248ff760c6c8c38d50021d0cb&showtopic=3172&st=0&#entry32637
I also had no issue with the bugs, since those will be fixed for the most part with future software updates. The problem I had was all the things my 60Cx can do that the Colorado can’t(as of now). The comparison could also include the VistaHCx and 76CSx since they have very similar features as the 60 series.
If I were shopping for a GPS right now I probably would just buy a 60csx from walmart.com, they are only going for $280 right now.

Wow! That webpage convinced me that this unit would not be an improvement over my current setup. Thanks for the link!
Ya thats exactly what I thought when I read it, thats why I shared it.
I know this is an old topic but thought others might be interested in the Garmin Colorado Wiki I stumbled onto through the geocaching forums. They have a great comparison between the 60csx and the Colorado features.

I have a 60CSx, and as a test I pulled the batteries out while it was connected via the USB cable, and the unit stayed powered up.
Cool, they must have changed this when they went from the 60CS to 60CSx? You still should be able to power it from the old 4-pin connector too if you want.
Yes this was one thing they changed when they switched to the X models(76 or 60series), you can now power via the USB port just like the etrex color models always could.
I was using a USB adapter in the car until I seen a few people had pulled the USB port out of the back of their units. I still use the USB for PC transfers but bought the 4pin cigarette lighter adapter for the car.@shrek & fiona wrote:
what do you think about the energizer e2 rechargeable
are they the new hybrid or just another batteryUnless they have changed things without any mention of it, I think they are just regular old rechargables. I had great luck with the energizer batteries, except after about a year they didn’t hold a charge like they did originally.
I had great luck with the rayovac hybrids even after a year, I just picked up a 4pack of the duracell precharged and they seem even better but ask me again after I have used them for a year.

Hey I already posted that one on page one! 😆 In all seriousness though when I posted it it was in Beta and you needed to sign up and wait to be invited or get an invite from someone who was already using the service. hulu is now out of beta so anyone can sign up.
hybrid rechargeable batteries are hands down better than old conventional rechargeables. Normal rechargeable batteries loose up to 1% of their charge every day they sit unused, so you really need to charge them right before you use them to get the best results. hybrids even after a year hold about 75% of their initial charge.
The best way to tell if a battery is some sort of hybrid is check the package for its better claimed shelf life. I recently seen a topic on the geocaching.com forum that had a list of all the known brands that have these hybrid type batteries. here is a list taken form one of the posts…..
Rayovac Hybrid
Sanyo Eneloop
Sony Cycle Energy
Uniross Hybrio
Ultralast Hybrio
Kodak Digital Camera, Ultra Low Discharge
Maha Imedion
Nexcell EnergyOn
Accupower Acculoop
Ansman Max-E
GP ReCyko
Duracell Pre-charged

Governor Dodge became my favorite park after the 1st WGA Campout. This place is the crown jewel of the State Park System in my opinion!
I’ve been camping at Governor Dodge for years(since I was a kid), it’s also one of my favorite parks. Even after staying there hundreds of times I still haven’t explored every trail.

There is a “Service Pack 3” for windows. Go to microsoft.com and search SP3. This is to eliminate problems with computers coming out of Hibernation/standby.
JustinWindows XP service pack 3 does fix this issue(I’ve had it running on a couple machines for the last few months), but service pack 3 hasn’t been released to the public yet. You can download it and install it but you may find some issues since this is still a pre-release.
I never have had any issues with SP3 update but your probably better waiting until it’s released to the public sometime Q1 of 2008.here’s the SP3 Release Candidate download:

I called GeekSquad and spent a bunch of time with them as they diagnosed the problem on the phone, for free to this point I must add. After the diagnostics they said I’d have to have a tech come out or bring it by the store because it looked like my operating system was damaged. Cost=$199-$399. I don’t think so. Not yet anyway. Can you say new computer for that price?
Please what ever you do don’t ever take anything to them, you will get better quality service for half the price from any local PC repair. There are many videos and stories online of them blatantly misdiagnosing simple issues and the customer getting charged hundreds of dollars for three minute fixes.
I hate seeing people get ripped off. -
