when i first started caching, i placed a few caches i would now consider lame. i did exactly what you are talking about…. i archived all of them to open the area’s up to new caches/cachers. i liked the locations i brought people to with these first caches but with them all being basicly drive up caches no one could really enjoy the area fully. (only being there for 20min)

i only have a few caches now and consider them quite a bit better(my opinion) than the first ones i placed.
for me it seems that my caching preferences and style are constantly evolving. probably true for others as well. so i will leave it to the cache hider to decide if there cache is LAME, as i did when i archived all my original caches.

I love firefox extentions, they are probably one of the main reasons I use firefox over IE 7 or opera 9.
installed greasemonkey and all the scripts, and found that i can access these under tools, manage scripts. at first I wasn’t seeing how to use these or any difference, but after looking at a cache listing i now see how this basicly added more info to the listing page!
I downloaded greasemonkey once before but didn’t really understand what i could do with it. now i will have to bust out my portable firefox 1.5 (USB thumb drive) and install greasemonkey and scripts on that one too…. this is great thanks for the info

I never knew this and after testing it out you are exactly right, before this I had never seen this happen. I added a bookmark to the main wi-geocaching page(not forum) on my google.com/ig page(customizable google home page) good thing i added the main page and not the forum…. i wouldn’t have had a clue what was up.

a little side note, i use the bookmark feature of http://www.google.com/ig because no matter what PC I am on all i have to do is log in and i have all my bookmarked pages….. though I don’t bookmark any online banking sites or similar.

    in firefox 1.5,
navigate to: tools, options, privacy tab.
now on the cookies tab make sure you have it set to allow cookies and to keep cookies till they expire…. one option is to clear them when you close firefox, and this seems like what may be happening. http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/4297/firefoxcookiesetting6rp.jpg

first thing i would say is make sure you are running the latest version of firefox(1.5).
I only use firefox and after thinking about it the only thing i can come up with is you don’t have firefox remember your user name/password for this forum. if i remember right you have to be logged in to see these bulbs lit up.

I have never seen all the bulbs lit up and or any other issue like that. only sites i really have problems viewing properly are microsoft sites, and the IE view or IE tab firefox extention fixes that. I have a hardware firewall and a software one so i don’t think this is the issue.

i have had more than one meridian gold and liked it allot. i got rid of both and bought a etrex legend C. i have only had it a few months and now there are rumors of some new garmin models, CX models that have removable storage and a new chip. so if you are considering a garmin, you may want to hold off and see what comes of these new ones.
more info about these possible future units can be found here. http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=114790&hl=60cx

if we had enough snow around here i would try to hit you back! your post made me laugh.
    thanks!

also wooden_nickel, i am sorry for deleting the whole topic from yesterday, you made some great points, and weren’t lashing out at anyone doing so. it won’t happen again. if people would rather have the topics closed and not deleted, why give the topic start the option to delete it in the first place? my vote is to remove this option and if the topic needs to be deleted you would have to ask a administrator to do so.

this is how i have felt all day, my stirring of the pot(to me) is almost as bad as the lashing out and rudeness that goes on here. i want everyones opinion, just not any attitude. i have not heard anyone else mirror my opinion about this, which is kind of sad. these forums would be a better place by far if some people left the attitude at home. seems to me by everyone basicly ignoring the problem it will never go away. lets compare the issue to a house fire, and lets use the ignore it stratgy for awhile….. lets see how long it is before we are sitting in a pile of ashes.
there has been more than one discousion that has gone sour that could have went somewhere . all it would take to change things would be for everyone to say “hey, check the attitude at the door!”

to the The Tapps, though i can understand your frustration with some peoples postings on here, please try not to use other cachers names if you have a complaint. we all have been guilty of expressing our opinions from time to time and calling people out so to say is just a flame war waiting to happen. no need for any of that.

The same should be said of the forum.
    Post what you want.
An occasional spicy comment should just be viewed as someone else’s opinion.

In the somewhat sleepy dialogue that sometimes appears on this forum, having someones pulse quicken is not all bad.

Group hugs are not always what everyone wants. Some people will always disagree and let the rest of us decide whose opinion merits consideration.

please no group hugs…. i aint like that.
i just think that some of us need to learn to reword our opinions as to not convey an attitude problem(not directed at you wzbt03, your post had all opinion/attitude removed and was nothing but the basic idea). does anyone actually like to read the rude, inconsiderate logs some people make everytime they post?
as i am a member of more than 20 forums and this one has some of the worst behaviour i have seen…. i guess if thats what the majority of you want GREAT! i guess next time there is an arguement i will turn a new leaf and push a few buttons instead.

i guess i am just shocked that anyone likes to read the garbage, who would have thought.

“sometimes people forget that an idea is differant than an opinion.” i guess i need to elaborate on what i said, I agree that sharing ones thoughts and ideas is great. it’s how some members of this forum share there thoughts that i call in to question. it’s great that we have people on both sides of every issue but posting flaming comments and typing “my opinion” afterward isn’t the way to get ones point of veiw across. people really need to think before they type and ask them self “how are other people going to perceive what i am saying?
i guess i am guilty of confusing opinion and attitude. no one i can think of wants a flame war. if we try to be more careful how we say things, maybe we would have a slightly friendlier forum, on every topic(even the normally hot ones).

I’m gonna call it for what it is. slapping “MY opinion” after a flaming post is just a cover for people trying to start S____. there is way better ways to get your thoughts across without bringing attitude to the table. I want to hear both sides of every issue, maybe i am wrong where I’m coming from and your point of view may change mine. the problem is that when flaming comes in we sometimes don’t hear what the person is really trying to say.
