    Well said.

My wife is a teacher in Jefferson County. After all the known hits she will be taking, there will be layoffs. Currently the district stands to lose $500 per child. This equates to losing 8-10 teachers. We can all hope not.

No one mentioned my two least favorites: trash cans and dumpsters. We found one in Tennessee on the used grease drum at a Cracker Barrel, with the name of “The Smelly Crack”. Shortly after that, Cracker Barrel banned geocaching on their property.

Looks like the Dells still has theirs.

If I recall correctly, I thought DNR was worried about cacher traffic here. I’m just pointing out that a few cachers probably would do no extra harm in relation to the amount of people that use this area already.

    I’m pretty sure GCXQ2W qualifies for RR56.

Normally, I’ll give it a go. This past weekend I was looking for a bison in a cluster of pines. I looked for about 30 seconds and called it. It was quite windy, and I wasn’t dressed to be stabbed. This is the exception for me though.

I got my last 4 at the TOken Creek Gander, and they were about $8 each. Looks like they went up. Usually Delaney’s between Baraboo and Sauk carries them also.

I use Geosphere from the app store. I don’t recall how much it cost, but it is very easy to use. Let me know if you have ?’s

I use macaching for my explorist and geosphere for my itouch. I can usually run a pq, load everything, and be out the door in under five minutes.

    It works for me.

Though I have contacted reviewers in the past, I have never contacted individual cache owners. The most recent being a cache in a Dane county park with no permit.
This situation has gotten the wheels turning a bit as of late though. I’m transported back to my early days, when from the time I found my very first cache, I knew where my first placement would be. I waited until I found what I thought to be an appropriate number of caches, then sought permission for my placement. After numerous phone calls, I was connected to a nice lady. She said no. Not two weeks later and within 200′ of my desired location, a cache pops up. I called the nice lady back up and asked her if she had changed her mind. Her answer was no. For a time, I placed caches with no attempt of gaining permission. Times have changed.
This topic also reminded me of a conversation I had with a cacher some time back. He wondered how long this sport would be around. He mentioned caches placed without permission, bomb scares, trespassing issues, damage to property, and hunting during closed times. Many aspects of this game have changed for me and I’m not sure if all for the better. Just rambling a bit now, but I’d be interested in any input anyone may have.

97.4%. I guess I need to get out more.

While I was there, they had one pamphlet left about it. Haven’t had a chance to look it over yet though.

Last week I received a Wi coin, a Hodag t-shirt and a coffee mug.

Hopefully will make it up again this year.

According to the dnr site, it is only skiing, but have been told by others it will include hiking-snowshoeing. I was there 2 years ago, but we had little snow to speak of that time.
