The Hotdogs will plan to be there. See you then.
I like the idea of the three purse, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, prize idea. Even at 10 teams, why not spread out the winnings. IMHO.
Sounds like a fun afternoon event. Staggared or mad dash sound about the same. Any demerits for speeding tickets? I’ve had dealings with the Waukesha Sheriffs Dept. before. We’re still interested.
We’d also like to thank all the wonderful cachers (we counted 37 Teams represented) who braved Mother Nature and the “climb” up to Caching Through the Snow and made all our efforts so very worth it. We’re still in the after glow of the event.
Special THANKS to our Partner-in-Caching, Natloh2 for all the work on the maps, books , and papers and for all the hour trips each way he made to help make the event a success.
We had a GREAT day with our CACHE Family!!
Bonnie, Jeff, Madison, & MurraySnow!!! We actually got 2-3 inches today, so now the name fits. We’re ready for tomorrow. See you all nest to the roaring fire inside the shelter. Got some mini donuts and chips for snackin’.
Congratulations on your new toys. Hope you get them figured out by tomorrow. Hope you can make the event. We received 2-3 inches of snow, so everything will be so frosted on the Ridge. That’s all the snow we have here tho. so all you’ll need are boots. I’ve got a $1 and Jeff Thorson said he’ll carry the Beast up the hill for that…..hope he shows up. Quite a few trips are waiting for him.
Bring Mom along, but remind her there’s a .6 mile climb along a road to the warm shelter. She’s welcome to hang out in the shelter or hike along with any of the groups. Tell here that my wife and I are fifties-something and do stop to check the scenery along the way (nudge-nudge…know what I mean).
I think one of the most important goals to continue pursueing is for the WGA to become a non-profit group so that they may better receive donations from individuals and corporations to help run their activities.
We need to continue to work with Wi-DNR to achieve a statewide policy acceptable to both groups. Lacking that, WGA should formalize our policy and have a printed standardized form online to present when obtaining permission.
I would like to see the membership become more aware of what the Board is working towards. If not minutes of meetings, then a monthly posting. There are those in the membership that would have input or that could be in position to help with projects.
I would also like to see the Cache Rescue program become implemented to help cachers, to help relations with land managers, and to preserve the quality of the great caches we now have in Wisconsin.Hi Becky,
Looking forward to meeting you at Saturday’s event. An Event Cache is a bit different in that the locations for the temporary caches are given out when you arrive. Natloh2 is making great little books for each team, and these caches will have a stamp in them to stamp on your page. These will be smaller than normal caches and will not have items for trading. They were hidden with the intention of there being snow and therefore will be rated as 1 1/2 to 2 for difficulty. Bring something for a snack or lunch and we’ll see you there.
We understand your loss and our thoughts are with you. At the event cache “Caching Through the Snow” coming up this weekend, we have a cache named “Bogie’s View of the Sauk Prairie” for our wonderful Irish Setter Bogie. He hiked and loved the Blackhawk Ridge area with us so often and would have loved geocaching, but passed away before we began caching.
They are such true friends!OK, we’re down to one week to go and as my final incentive (pronounced bribe) to get caches revved up for Caching Through the Snow….DOOR PRIZES have been added to the day’s event. Caching begins at 10 AM and the drawing will be at noon. Prizes in clude a newly painted ammo can, breakfast-in-a-bowl, garden thermometer, and more.
Parking may get a bit crowded so we’re adding the coords of a very close-by parking area: N 43* 14.383 W 89* 43.634
The temporary caches have been placed and are waiting. Let’s Cache Through the Snow!!!
Less than two weeks to go until the Central Wisconsin Caching Through the Snow Event. We have a great enclosed log house shelter with fireplace lined up. We also have the makings for a roaring fire with hot chocolate and coffee ready to warm everyone up after climbing the hill to the shelter and after caching. Note: once at the shelter, the trails to the caches are relatively level.
Hoping to see many of you there, and looking forward to some new cachers. All are welcome. Event held snow or not.
Sounds like you’ve really been busy, and we all wish to thank you for helping set the groundwork for those to follow. When do you go before the Madison board? If you’d like support or help, I’d be happy to be there if I have the date open. Thanks again for all you’re doing.
I’d be interested in attending if I have the date open. I’m struggling with a new Palm now but am having problems with the unit itself.
Yee-Gods….I’ve got Park Place and Boardwalk both!!! It’s the sound you hear when you know you’ve wiped out your best friend. We’re ready. I want a Geocaching Tophat.
