Using the first script link in the thread (Geocaching.com extra map layers), we end up with the following map options:
          Google,
          Google aerial,
          Google hybrid,
          Google terrain,
(Swedish-sourced maps that don’t seem to work and can likely be removed if you know how to edit the scripts: Eniro, Eniro aerial, Eniro nautical),
          Bing,
          Bing aerial,
          MapQuest,
          CloudMade,
          MapQuest Aerial,
          OpenStreetMap,
          OpenCycleMap,
          My Topo

As an alternative, there is some activity going on in the GC forums regarding how to return the Google map functionality as a work-around. We tried giving it a whirl, and now have Google maps back, in addition to faster-loading Mapquest etc. maps that were recently brought in. But you need to be comfortable with Firefox, Greasemonkey, and using Scripts that run on Greasemonkey (think they’ve now identified a Chrome route, too). Lastly, when downloading the scripts, be sure to only download the script using the small button on the upper right-hand side of the download page, or you’ll end up downloading a bunch of junk that will try to install itself on your browser…….

Bottom line, read through the thread first.

            Bottom bottom line: caveat emptor

Bottom bottom bottom line: If it works, great! If you end up with a mess, someone hijacked our account and put this post in here…..we were never here…… 😈

If you’re still reading this, then you might want to give it a whirl!

And no auto-tuner! Harmonics are OK, though, and encouraged. Capo, picks, and toe-tapping? Well, to each his own! 🙂

Which they will, unless they get the inside scoop ahead of time. At least that’s our impression. Think most, if not all finders in the last several years, have needed it. The cache needs WPT3 updated by some means, and then it is doable using the information on the cache page. But perhaps the repeated letters of P.A.F. in the logs spells that out. Elmer FFFudd might agree

Regardless the brand, size up towards Fickin Huge. You’ll be glad you did when you finally do hit some deep stuff. Smaller shoes are more likely to punch down, fill in on top and become buried, and then you end up shoveling all that snow back up when you lift your feet back out. Big shoes are better for whacking bears, too, if needed. Small shoes are for running on snowmobile trails and placing into tiny cars. Glad to provide this most useful information to you. 😈

True. But once the puzzle is solved, then comes the fun of uncovering What the path is leading you to….and playing smart by knowing when and where to take the long route, because there is something un-fun in the way. Something like that. Gotta go now, not sure where, but to your point, it is sure to be fun! 🙂 🙂

Would like to have the ‘high-res’ ability on a multi-cache view……so I can clearly see and pre-plan shortcuts through people’s backyards when I plan my caching routes, or something like that. Seriously, for example, doing the Kiel Marsh series, I’d like to have hi-res over all 10 caches on a single screen, that I can just pan and zoom seamlessly. As it is now, to look at all 10 close-up, the res is lo, and the tiles keep prairie doggin’.

Ugh, I take it back. It’s taking forever for these satellite maps to load. I didn’t have this problem yesterday. Boo!

Had the problem yesterday, but looks worse today. Using FireFox 10.0.1, navigated to a cache with Mapquest, and then kicked into Aerial. No load….so brought up the cache page, loaded Bing and Google maps, zoomed in on Birdseye and hybrid, got the views I needed from each, and then peeked back at Mapquest aerial….only 2 tiles loaded by then. Even after refreshing, same result. Still have a speed curve to overcome.

Still plan to run it through Android, and have a host of browsers to try there, (Dolphin is normal preference, btw, even over FF) but as long as the old method is still available, all is still good…..but would prefer GREAT! 🙂
