hip/chest waders.
Go with the hip boots. If you need chest waders you might as well be in the canoe.
Ummm, what the heck was Jstajlr wearing out in that Marsh, anyway? For cold water, chest waders reduce shrinkage, and have pockets!
Or GPS’s…………………….
Now then, if his memory is on par with yours, then toss this on his bucket list when he’s not looking: “ISS geocache.” If you can convince him to go for the Geocache on the International Space Station, Wales would be a piece of cake! (S’pose you could try to just land there on the way back……….) π

Something is going on over at the opencaching site…there is now a badgerish looking blue mascot on the page.
The text is now in German: “Bald auch unter einem Baumstumpf in deiner NΓΒ€he: Kostenlos, offen, in deiner Sprache!”
and translates to:
“Soon, under a tree stump near you: Free, open, in your language!”
What does it mean?
Congrats on #2000, and for doing it on that challenging cache! Really glad you made it back out! Sounds like you actually found the legendary stream!

There’s a 6-pack of beer in it for the first one to find that commercial on-line somewhere. I’ve looked but cannot locate it.
No commercial, so no beer here, but this might help someone else win the prize! Here’s a link to an Amazon page for a Garmin GPS III, where the first and third ‘Customer Reviews’ reference a 1999 Amazon commercial (related to USPS and Garmin?)
Hope this helps! π

The fun run is done! π π

Is there anyone with Time Warner / Road Runner in the Fox Valley area that is able to access the site? My thought process is just trying to figure out if it’s selective people or everyone in this area.
No problems from NEW.RR here. Check the other thread from a few weeks ago; I think there were several other RR users from the valley, some with and some without problems.
Congratulations JimandLinda! From your great write-up, it sounds like it was a fun and rewarding milestone! π π
What others are saying:
Includes a link to view a final screenshot of opencaching.com just before closing down, which has a few interesting tidbits from 2003 – 2005.

From what I understand, the maps are not set on the PO, but set to the geographical center of the zip area. If the shift stays I wonder if lighthouse nuts are going to have to move all of their caches?? they are no longer at the Top Spots.
Looks like you are right! Checked the Waupaca ZIP sandlanders cited above, and see that the shift appears to be due to the source of the maps, Google. So punching in the ZIP 54981 now puts it in or near an old, leaking dump south of town. So, perhaps as Google continues to consolidate its power and execute its master plan for world domination, gonna need to move some of those top spots, and add a few new attributes. π

2 things:
is anyone else having trouble uploading photos? For the past month, it has been giving me trouble.
Anyone else have a day long outage of gc.com emails, only to resume by itself this morning?

Can’t comment on the photos, but emails stopped/became sporadic for days, then received a big push last night.
New cache notifications also coming about 12 hours late – after the FTF has already been claimed. Good thing we don’t chase after anything of the sort π
