Finally made it to The Anchor bar and Grill. 413 Tower Ave Superior Wi. Man, was that a neat place. No wonder why it was on Diners drive ins and dives. It was a dive, but man can they kick out the food, which was great, and the beer is ice cold. Rustic Nautical Lake Superior theme with a lot to look at. We will return, packed with people, all having a great time. Can you say Gold Mine?

Lot’s of great ones across the bridge in the land of purple, so you will have a great caching season ahead of you. Enjoy and try and make it to some events to meet others from the area.

We have had run ins at the border a few times, the worst being on a trip to Duluth for the races. We ended up in the office of the United States customs at the Canada U.S. border, waiting to see if they were going to snap on some latex gloves. We were on one of our regular trips to Duluth. We took the GPSs the laptop, my radio power supply and other electronic goodies that are necessary while caching. The customs officer asked the nature of our visit and we mention, shopping and geocaching. We had to explain geocaching to him several times, then as we are waiting to get our documents back we see him handing them to someone else and says to us park on the side and come on in. Now Killer panics. WhatÒ€ℒs going on? After 20 minutes of sitting in the office no one saying anything to us, them at their computers typing away and staring at us, finally an officer walks up to us and asks for the keys to the truck. We ask whatÒ€ℒs going on, barely a response other than wait here we will be back. Killer is trembling now and another 30 minutes go by. They are going over the truck with a fine tooth comb. Finally he returns and asks the nature of our visit. Again I tell him shopping and a bit of geocaching. He hands us the keys and says I hope you find what you are looking for. Guess they were looking up what geocaching was. Needless to say on subsequent visits we just tell them shopping and make no mention of geocaching. Not sure if the mention of geocaching triggered a red flag or this was just a random search, but it scared the hell out of us.

We are here, LIVE!!!! Holy Crow. A record for us caching wise. And we even stopped for breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and finally said enough at 2:30 pm. We could have nabbed easily another 30 or so. Went shopping, went to Applebees for supper, and sat in the hot tub sipping on brewskis at the hotel, all before 7 p.m. A must do trip for those who have not done this area yet. Make an itinerary of the caches, in order, and have some fun. And of course do George Don’t Live Here No More A letter box cache that is nominated for best cache. Nicely done Da Bloodhound, from everything we had read, this was one trip we had to do, and it got us to drive 8 hours for our 3rd caching anniversary. We had a great time, and will return to the area. I thing we are familiar with every street and road in town now.

We are planning to head down on our days off to check out a few hydrants . 😯 πŸ˜‰ . Can’t wait. Too bad we did not know about the balloon event earlier. That sure would have been something to see.

One thing to consider also before ordering is if you want a sew on patch or one with iron on adhesive. Many may not know how to sew, and the iron on works well on certain materials.

So far, we have done at least one cache each month since we joined, even if it means a road trip. A couple hundred kilometers is nothing to drive as long as we keep the streak alive. Sounds like you need a road trip. πŸ˜‰ 😯

We were watching Diners drive in’s and dives on the food channel last night and they did a show on the Anchor Bar and Grill in Superior Wi. I thought that was really cool. We have been to a few places he has had on his show in the Duluth area, and the food was great. So we are looking forward to visiting the Anchor bar and Grill. 413 Tower Ave Superior Wi. If it made the show, it has to be good.

Grand Portage Lodge and Casino considers you a Senior at 50 years of age!!!! We are both 52 and kind of chuckle to get all the “senior” discounts at the casino. Well, it’s nine O’Clock at night, time to put the false teeth in the glass of cleaner and head to bed πŸ˜‰

When we travel, We cache mainly the Superior Wisc. and Duluth Mn. area and always try to do at least 15 per day while traveling. We do prefer park and grabs and other high number, quick finds along the highway, but once in a City we do some of the longer hikes.

Never do we download puzzle or multi caches while traveling, although we have done some in Duluth, just because we are there once a month and have done most of the traditional caches. But for the most part, we never go after puzzle caches and multis while traveling. Just not conducive to high numbers. πŸ˜‰

I think if we did take a trip to Clearwater Florida, it would take us about 6 years to get there because we would want to do every traditional cache that is 15 feet off the highway. It is just a fun way to to anticipate the next stop and search while traveling.
