Thanks. It was a fun day, and we only found 3 caches, of 3 attempted! All around the 3 year mark since found by the online logs.

There have been rumblings that people avoid the WGA and its events because they have the feeling of a high school cafeteria where all that matters is the ‘cool kids’. There are some that feel that the WGA and its membership are not very welcoming. This idea of a group FTF may be really fun and exciting idea for the picnic to the “cool kids”. Those who do not visit these forums/facebook or have notifications sent to their phones may just feel more like an outsider.

Not talking about the FTF portion of this at all, but at Cache Bash, I remember something about someone from the BOD asking a newer cacher why they were hanging around “the Riff Raff crowd”. Seems awfully cliquey to me, especially when it’s coming from the BOD. 🙄

Now to add to the conversation, even when I go to say, Cache Bash, I’m not the type to worry about 1/2 the events that happen there. It is good to see new ideas being brought to the table to keep things interesting though.

Oh, and reply through CL as I’ll get it right away. Tell me your a cacher, and I’d be more willing to hold it.

Amazingly, no one has complained, but the LCG list is now up for Sept/Oct. The magic date for this period is August 30, 2012. Yes, that means that every cache was available for double points (except for those that were already found yesterday or today, of course.) Note that the new map has an additional feature. If you would like to see the county boundaries, just right click and select “Toggle Boundaries”.

    Have fun!

    From this thread:

    http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=15175

It seems to have missed the current LCG list by a couple days. The list is compiled of the 500 oldest unfound caches. And, I believe it a first(could be wrong), but every cache on the list was a year since the last find when the list was made available.

I’d think the easiest way to do that would be to pick an existing cache from the app, because in order to enter WPs you have to be navigating to something already. Just remember which cache page you are using for your temporaries.

From the MAP screen on the cache you select, you’ll have three dots in the upper right. That will drop down a menu to add WP’s. Add as many as you like. They will show up as yellow flags on the map. Tap to select navigate to them.

Also useful as dropping flags for backtrack purposes when you are way out in the woods.

Another tidbit. They will still be there until you delete them.

I got to meet Linda while doing a cache in her front yard during cache bash. Very unfortunate news, and condolences sent to her family.

I’ll take the Real Grand Chute for you.

Looks like I go past Eagle View often enough also. However, I don’t remember that hide, so you’ll have to refresh my memory on that one.

Thanks everyone! We definitely decided to “play hard” last month, and had a BLAST going to a lot of out of the way spots. I can tell you, that my body doesn’t recover as quickly as it did a couple years ago.

NWT, your geocoin visited The Beast, seemed fitting but I didn’t want to leave it there. Others left TB’s, but seems it’s been muggled twice.

Big Jim, sorry you didn’t make it for the journey yesterday. I heard you got wet starting off? Almost everyone was soaked from the waves over the bow(s) on the way out. Around 7 hours to complete the cache.

We were eyeing that one up already, for the near future. Sounds like I’ll be there to paddle along as long if the weather is good.

Now, I sent a message to WiHi offering up my second kayak. If she doesn’t take me up on it, I will offer it to anyone from the Valley that is interested in coming along. Got a spot in the truck, a kayak, and just ask that if anyone takes me up on it, split that gas and provide your own PFD(lifejacket).

No updates. They all must still be sleeping it off.

in reply to: Semi off topic. Campground app #1970484

I have that one. Another that I like is Oh Ranger Parkfinder. Little more area covered with that one for Federal and State parks.

Another thought. Hope for clear skies, as the 24th is a full moon. Will help with lighting things up!

Little tip. When you stop for

    GC18YQ7 Midnight at the Oasis,

grab Hidden Meadow, and I-Passed a cache-Lincoln Oasis.

You can grab all 3 caches at that oasis in about 15 minutes or less. The oasis bridge gives you access to both sides of the interstate. It was those 3 that we targeted on our 6 state run for Rich’s challenge cache.

    Have fun!
