I did actually send a polite email to the cacher. I directed them to this thread, and I also explained why I, myself won’t go to get most of the caches. I got a short, but nice reply. Whether they read this, or respond, is up to them.

I didn’t find, but suspect the archived cache was a guardrail. That, I have less of a problem grabbing over a boulevard terrace cache.

I just got a notification log of archive on one of the hiders caches that was archived by a Groundspeak Lackey themselves.

The archive log states “The adjacent property owners are being disturbed by this cache and ask that it be removed. The local police are now involved. Sorry, but I have to archive this cache. Thank you for your understanding.”

On another note, I saw a log from the offending cacher/hider about a cache that I went to FTF and ran into two other cachers at, that was IN a PARK. The log from them(copy and pasted a portion) says “The Muggle next door didn’t like the previous finders invading her familys privacy and wondered if they were doing drugs. I explained what was going on. They asked that they get reprimanded for rudeness “. I saw 1 person, a male, when walking up to the FTFr’s to sign my name to the log.

I mean, c’mon, isn’t that what 90% of their own hides are doing, being on a boulevard? I’ve driven past 1 of the boulevard caches when on a FTF run, because it’s not my type of cache.

    Hey, thanks everyone!

Nice to run into and meet another cacher, Amita17 at my 500th find. Had a blast at the campout and visiting with RNS, and WiHi when they stopped over at Bobncat’s campsite. Along with meeting others that I hadn’t before while wandering around over the weekend. I think I hiked almost 13 miles around the park on Saturday clearing the caches out of the park. Imagine my thought when I checked the map, after logging them all to see that I missed one……. 😯 🙄

    😀 😀 😀

    Your welcome, Muggle!

I hope you get some use out of it. I look forward to you hiding some caches. And, anyone around the Appleton area knows I’ll chase new hides as long as it’s not during work hours! So I’ll try to FTF any caches you put out.

    😀

I’ve also had lost owner and publish notifications. I didn’t even know my own cache had published! I don’t know which email servers anyone is using, but I use Mozilla/Gmail. I had to log into Gmail, which took forever, as I’ve been using Mozilla for retrieval for so long, I forgot the password. I DID find a couple of the owner logs there in the spam folder. None of the publish emails though. 🙄

That’s the picture I saw, that made me decide to go see this park. I took a bunch of pictures when I was there, and a couple are posted to both of the EC’s there on 12/19.

While behind the falls, you could actually hear the water flowing inside of the “frozen” waterfall. Hiked down the creek, to explore, and see the arch from the bottom.

I’m going to make a point to come back and see it again in the summer.

This is the exact reason I like caching. I always seem to find, and go, to places I never would have seen otherwise.

    😀

I may have misspoke based on a misunderstanding. This may have been the rule for reserving the pavilion (not the group campsite).

But you got the point of my post anyway…

    Yeah, for the most part.

I’ve never seen the group camp full anytime I’ve camped there, which is at least once a season.

I just checked the park website and group sites are available 11 months ahead of time. Each of the sites are already reserved for several dates throughout the year.

Then they fall under the same reserve rules as all the other campsites.

This detail has not been decided yet. A new rule with the DNR requires that we wait until the new year prior to reserving a group site for 2011 dates.

“WE” meaning the WGA, or anyone wanting to reserve a group site? Just curious, as 1 of the group sites appears to already be reserved according to the ReserveAmerica map for those dates.(not that it matters, or am trying to push you to reserve, either. There is more than enough space up there. Just a clarification standpoint.)

And yes, by perusing the old campout info I got the impression that it’s more of a “tent city” camping event in the group camp area. I reserved my own site already because I’ll be bringing a camper.

I went and made reservations to swipe up one of the last available electric sites, after asking in my first post. Even after browsing the last campout info, I realize that most of the campers for the campout will be in the “group campground”.

So, I’ll be there. Just a short hike/bike away. 😀

Seeing as I’m mostly a lurker around here, are there any other details about this campout, or are they “to come”?
