I grabbed a couple of ammo cans from Menards yesterday. They’re really nice new steel cans but now I don’t know what to do with them. At first I was thinking geocaches but how can you make these things fit in that little hole in a road sign? It seems a bit silly to put them out in the woods where they will sit untouched for years.
The last post took two minutes from submit to getting kicked through the wormhole and another two minutes to get back here.
It always seems to take longer to enter this website than others. This morning didn’t seem worse than any other time, but loading this page seemed to take forever.
I say seemed because I don’t actually time it.
P.S. Submitting this post took forever.
Good morning for Sunday October the 29th.
At 24deg its the first hard freeze this little patch East of Sandland has seen this fall.
One of my new shelter cats used to think that first call for breakfast came at 3am. He is getting better, I can live with 4am but 5:30 is a bit more restful.
No sign of the peacock this morning. After a week of crapping in the back of my pick-up maybe he has given up on the prospect of finding love here and decided to move on.
At least I hope so.

Arkdale or Coloma?
Ive got my money on Arkdale. I don’t know of a cemetery near the Coloma address.
I’ve heard that the Lake Wissota peacocks are especially difficult to see in the rain.
Jar, if it’s still around we’ll take that peacock once we move!
If he’s still around. I just have the idea that someone will show up some day and claim him. Or he may decide to move to a bigger, newer, or flashier truck (like a big Red one).
As he is capable of flying to his nightly roost 25′ up in a red pine, he is capable of leaving at any time and not necessarily with someone thinking of taking him home.
Also I’ve noticed a new vehicle in the area, a peacock blue Jeep suv.
I wonder if that peacock was someone’s watch bird displaced by the recent weather. Add it to your yard bird list!
That is a possibility. There are new owners at the East end of the sub. behind me. I’ll have to take a little ride on my bike to see what’s new in the neighborhood.
He’s still hanging around, I think he likes the carpet bed liner in the pick-up.
About the time I get some recipes for peacock rounded up his owner will probably show up.
At about noon I saw a Peacock strutting around on my driveway. I called the sheriff,s dept. but he doesn’t appear to be wanted. Right now he is bedded down in the bed of my pick-up, don’t know if anyone is going to show up for him or not.
Deb get her balloon ride yet?
July 15th, pending good weather.
You can take comfort in the fact that there are no Gator filled ponds around here.
I think it’s been about 45yrs since I’ve watched fireworks. The only ones that I liked were the aerial bombs that shook your teeth when they went off. Of those the sneaky ones that would burst in a shower of stars and then when you relaxed would really shake you were the best.
