I’ll be heading over to the Adams county animal shelter this afternoon to check out a new cat to replace Dolly who I had to have put down two weeks ago. I never expected to have to do this but Dolly’s sister Daisy has been driving me crazy ever since. Just little things like wandering into the bedroom at 2:25 this morning meowing for her sister.
After a week of working with Garmin support via e-mail, both of my Nuvis remained corrupted. The final suggestion was to give them a call via phone and talk with a real engineer. I phoned them and the rep I talked with suggested manually deleting them, you know, highlighting the cache on the screen and tapping Delete. When I told him that that method didn’t work as a permanent solution, he said ” it always works for me”.
Does anyone know if Tom Tom has any of these problems.
I open the GPX file and find nothing but a folder labeled Archive, a file labeled *****lpt, and a file labeled current.
If you open the Archive file, delete any in there. And do the same with the current file unless thereās any in there you donāt want deleted.
I have been in touch with Garmin support via email and they say that there are no geocaches in the Archive folder but that I can delete that anytime I want with no harm. I’m guessing that as you drive down the road and the Nuvi keeps updating the page the old data gets shoved into the archive folder.
The files I can’t do anything with, my computer says it can’t open them and I’m beginning to think that they have been corrupted and I may have to get NSA to crack them.

Bartrod I do the opposite of what you mentioned. If you load them as POIās (points of interest), it only gives you limited info, such as the GC number. If you load it as favorites/geocaches, it will show you (if you set it up that way) the GC#, Cache Title, D/T, description, and coordinates. I actually prefer to see that data on my Nuvi. Having said that, if loaded as favorites, it is potentially trickier to delete them. There are I think three different macros in GSAK that one can use to transfer geocaches to Nuviās, not counting the āexport to Garmin POIā command in the file menu (which is a point of interest, not a favorite). Iām only familiar with the master reset option to erase the favorites but there may be other ways. A master reset will erase all favorites and will restore your GPSr to the default factory settings. To perform a master reset on most NUVIās: While the NUVI is OFF, press and hold the lower right hand corner of the touchscreen Power on the device while continuing to hold the display Remove your finger from the touchscreen when āErase all user data?ā appears and then select āYesā The device will now reset, and all favorites will be erased. Youāll potentially need to re-enter your preferences and any favorites youād like to keep (such as home address) A master reset only takes a matter of minutes so itās not as bad as it sounds, but you may have to re-enter some information.
I have a Nuvi 1300LM which I don’t use much anymore. A while back after a map update I noticed that a bunch of old caches had reappeared and because I didn’t have much else on the thing I thought I’d try this master reset thing. Guess what, it removed the few favorites I had entered BUT NONE of the CACHES.
Some of us are also Brewers fans. Does that tell you anything?
It had occurred to me that the Brewers could possibly grab the Cubs discarded mantle, of course Cleveland stands in the way of that also.
I wonder what happens now to the long suffering Cubs fan, now that they have lost their reason for being. Also what does the team do, become average and win occasionally like everyone else or the smart thing, Start A New Tradition.
The ads for replacement windows will be back …in force.
I stopped at my sisters place in town this morning and while petting the old tomcat I pulled two fully engorged ticks off him. He had been out last night greeting Trick-or-Treaters.
I have not been checking for ticks lately, maybe I’ll have to change my thinking.
Not Your Father’s Vanilla Cream Ale.
I suppose that could be, or maybe just dying to do what all the mice were dying to do.
So far this month I’ve trapped 20 mice in my garage. This morning’s was a bit different, it was black with a short tail, in other words a Vole. I have no idea what he thought he would find in there, kind of hard burrowing in a concrete floor.
2″ of rain here in East Sandland, with it came a lot of leaves. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and windy so I hope to see my leaves heading further East.
I just spotted a couple of snow birds under my feeders. Do they know something we don’t ? Is that 70deg. on my thermometer just an illusion ?
East Sandland Ā – – – Ā 65 deg. at 6am, Ā 45 deg at 8.
