That was two broods already this summer, I was hoping they were through.
I’m thinking of moving the nest to a platform very near to where it is now and even if it doesn’t get used again this year that may plant a seed for future generations.
Well my second batch of Robins left the nest today 15 days after hatching.
Now maybe I get my ladder back.
Pokemon Go-yes or no?
Late this afternoon I spotted a large SUV parked near the house. A couple of young lads were wandering around on the road with smart phone in hand. After a little while they walked over near and then past a P&G cache. At this point I couldn’t be sure ‘Pokemon – Geocache’, after wandering around and past the P&G another four times they finally woke-up to the fact that there was a geocache right in front of them.
Find number 6.
Log : Found it.
But is it really Jolly Good without jokes in the bottom of the cans.
Mrs Robin’s son #1 batch #2 hatched this morning. Only two eggs this time around.
I just took the snows off of the pickup. I figure once we make it past June…..
I had my first Hummingbird encounter of the year at about noon today. She was hovering at the picture window giving me the stink-eye because I hadn’t put any treats out yet.
That oversight has been corrected.
I was watching a squirrel this morning climb out to a bird feeder, hang from the top and pick out a few seeds. There wasn’t much of anything in the feeder because he or one of his relatives had dumped the contents of the feeder two days ago. After he jumped down two little squirrels who had been watching gave it a try. What a circus, they would climb out on the rod and slide back down, get to the end of the rod and try to hang upside down only to slide back to the deck upside down, get to the feeder and fall off the top, hang off the top and fall, jump and miss and fall, and fall, and fall.
Unfortunately in a couple of weeks they will be all grown and destroying everything they get a hold of.
I just checked again and it still will not show My Reports for June. I change the date and it defaults to the Scoreboard. I go back to My Reports and it shows July, I change the date, etc, etc.
But I did have reports for June, they just hadn’t been approved yet and in the good old days they would have shown up as such.
I’ve got about a dozen Tufted Titmice swarming the suet blocks this evening. Quarrelsome little buggers, they’re driving Dolly crazy but the screen is metal so it should hold.
Diesel Sandwiches – Yum
A sign that has always caught my eye.
This morning the woodpeckers are making much more noise at the suet blocks than usual and this morning it fell to Daisy to try and quiet them – chase them away. She had about as much success as her sister but she makes a lot more noise mewing than Dolly so the noise thing is about a wash.
There was no crashing into the screen either so I guess she’s a bit smarter than Dolly also.
My old diabetic cat, Dolly, just made a lunge for the birds at the suet block just inches from her nose and was stopped by hitting the screen that divided them. Now she is settling down, looking a bit foolish but is again returning her attention to the birds which are also returning and I expect more action soon.
Mrs Robin doesn’t like being an empty nester it seems, the nest on my ladder is filling with little blue eggs again.
I could have used the ladder to get on the roof yesterday but I’d failed to remove the nest when I had the chance.
I’ve been using the TV tower to get onto the roof for years anyway.
