When did this become a competition? How about we just play the game in a manner that we can live with as individuals and quit worrying about how the next guy is playing his game. I personally don’t log temps and I also don’t give a fat rats arse what you do with your temp caches as it doesn’t affect me one way or the other. Lets get real here . . . .,

    Nice entry, good job 😀

in reply to: How to determine distance between two caches #1878214

From your placement location enter the cache in question into GPS and see if it is 528 or more away

in reply to: Phone a Friend #1877974

I have never phoned a friend not that I wouldn’t if I was able to. I have though emailed people for a nudge from time to time and I am comfortable with that so why not phone a friend and save a trip home and back to GZ if possible. Especially considering the high cost of energy (fuel) and the increasing need to travel distances to get to a cache I have no problem personally with the practice. At the risk of sounding like an activist – which I am not – we speak often about the environmental impact of trampling an area around a cache but give little thought on how our behavior impacts the larger environment vis-a-vis repeated cache mobile trips to the same GZ. Just something to consider IMHO. Play the game as you wish and do what is personally comfortable is my position.

in reply to: Lyme with the rash? #1877447

Got blood test result back and it was negative so I wasn’t exposed to Lyme. Apparently I had a fairly nasty virus of some sort instead, thankfully. Thanks for the support.

Doc took a blood sample for test and need to wait now. I do feel alot better though then a few days ago. He is inclined to believe it is just a virus but agrees that due to my exposure to ticks that I shoudl be tested as a precaution.

Saturday was by far the worse day as it crept up on me in the morning and by midafternoon hit me full force with many of the symptoms of Lyme i.e. chills, fever, joint aches, fatigue, albeit without the rash. Sunday there was some improvement I guess. The severe headache subsided to a managable level but the profuse sweating spells began, the fatigue persisted and I still ached all over. Today even more improvement with just a remnant of a headache (dull) a little sweating but not as profuse, the body aches are better, and I actually feel like I want to get outside for a spell. So I dunno if this is Lyme or some other nasty as it came on so fast and seems to be subsiding pretty quickly too. In any case, to error on the side of caution I have scheduled an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow. I have pulled enough ticks off of me this summer to justify this precautionary visit plus the idea of Lyme has me a little paranoid and is screwing with my peace of mind.

    Perfect. Thanks.

in reply to: Cookie cutter copy and paste logs #1876748

I personally don’t place a cache for the log notifications, though I admit that they are fun to read. I really put out caches as a way to thank and pay back those who took the time to put out caches for me to find. IMHO that is reward and payment enough for me.

in reply to: Cookie cutter copy and paste logs #1876726

Cookie cutter log or not I am just happy the cache was found intact and operational. I personally got more important things to worry than how someone logs my cache. Just log it with FOUND and I will be happy in the knowledge that the cache has survived yet another day.

I got some help from Lostby on this one, and it’s one where the location isn’t all that much easier than the cache itself. But fortunately, I did take a photo of one of the works of art that was a truck in a former life at Dr. Evermor’s. Two weeks ago.

Did I ever get a nasty vehicle penalty though, LOL.

After this, I have to hope I can decode all this stuff and pinpoint the hideout. Almost there!

You will get the key to the 10 petroglyphs with the final map piece so no problem there 😉
