Ok Ok I know, but the idea comes across I think. Maybe its time for some color rather than just a straight metal finish. I really like the America’s Dairyland side, kinda captures the spirit of Wisconsin IMHO. On the WGA side maybe have a Badger come out from behind the state, or replace the compass rose with a Badger. Or include several state symbols like CB’s submission. If its done with color the state could take the form of chedder cheese. Just some thoughts anyway. Enuff brain strain for now.
Doing my best Elvis impersonation: “Thank you, Thank you very much!” 😀 I dunno bout 1000 but 500 might be possible. 😯
Just so I can say I attempted this . . . . The Wisconsin State Picture lists the State Parks. Might work better just listing the Parks within the State border rather than the location of park. Anywho………

Anyone have any problems with an Illinois-folk tossing in a design concept?

Vegas Gamblers and jaymills! We have gotten to know them a little in chat, and they both seem like alot of fun!
Thanks CB and we second the vote for jAY miLLS and CinemaBoxers. We have met some cachers on the trails and will meet more during events this year, so we are holding off on our wish list till we find out who the creepy people are 😆 .
Ahh shucks (shuffling feet inthe dirt). CinemaBoxers and Vegas Gamblers the feeling is mutual. Wish we were going to GW5 and caching on the way with ya’ll, it will be fun for you I am sure. I am envious and would love to also meet and cache with a bunch of the geocoin chat crew as well.

I like this part the best.
A cache may remain at the approved site for no more than three years at which time it must be removed, the site restored to its original condition by the party placing the cache and to the satisfaction of the Parks Department, and the Parks Department land manager informed in writing of the removal (the removal notification form is the same as the placement request form). This will control cache abandonment and assist in preventing renegade trail development to the site.
This is a requirement you agree to by placing a cache and the only boundary here is the Parks Department Judgment. In short, they can ask that you not perform but pay for the restoration. $$$$$$
**Possible future phone call
“Your cache caused a volunteer trail and we need new top soil and the site will need to be replanted and since this is a sensitive job area not wanting to damage the surrounding area as well, we will hire someone and bill you.”While this might not happen, the wording gives them the power to do so.
Good point, I missed that clause entirely. I think I will have to reread that document again several times. I think that this document has several problems that need to be addressed but I think this is just a proposed document and not in its final form yet if I am understanding correctly.
Yep it does look like many caches will be in forbidden areas, but forbidden to cachers only. Milwaukee County Parks can not claim they are only concerned about protected nature areas as there are only two that I am aware of (Warnimont and Cudahy) and GC.com will not approve caches in these areas anyway. Nor can they claim they are concerned about saftety. As for the area within the specified distance of the bluffs along Lake Michigan (other than Warimont) it should be insulting to cachers intelligence that the Parks presume we can or can not judge what is within our individual limitations. There are scrappy hiking paths that run right on the edge of many parts of the bluffs and I have encountered bikers and hikers alike on these paths. I almost got hit by a bike that was trying to get around me on a path close to a bluff. So is hiking and biking prohibited also from these areas as these activities are just as potentially “dangerous”? This to me seems to have crossed the line of simply wanting to know where the caches are located (which is a reasonable expectation) and from where I sit it appears that the Milwaukee Parks has singled out a specific group to Regulate.

Yep I said the same thing you are thinking . . . Who would put a goldfish in a cache anyway?
What it really boils down to is personal preferences. I personally enjoy cemeteries and find them to be very relaxing and peaceful as I stroll through looking at headstones and monuments and wondering about the lives of the common folks interred there, not just those persons of significance. I wonder what life was like for these individuals during the period of time that they lived. Some markers I have “discovered” are quite old with births dating back to the late 1700’s and I am fascinated by them. I am also saddened when I see the marker of a baby or a child who may have died of a disease that today would be cured in 7-10 days. I feel proud and grateful when I see a marker of a soldier that laid down his life so I may have the life and freedom I have today. Aren’t these markers in and of themselves a historical record of fact? Isn’t what I described more or less what a virtual cache was designed to accomplish by slowing us down just a bit to reflect on some tidbit of information? Cemeteries aren’t a place of death, they are a resting place of life if we just take the time to see it. I enjoy the quite moments that cemeteries provide to reflect on my own mortality (yep sorry to report we will all die some day) and to pay homage to those that have passed before me. I do all this with and without a GPSr. I don’t view a cemetery as a “playground”, contrary, I see it as a classroom and a place to learn about myself and the society I live in. If I found a cache that required me to “climb around a shrine of a religious symbol or on a gravestone” I would write the owner a well worded email suggesting a more respectful placement of the cache in the area.
I was a bit surprised to find a tick crawling on my neck after a hike through Falk Park on Sunday, I don’t know what kind it was. I didn’t know they would be out already. I also saw a butterfly and a 16″ garter snake also.
hmmmm should make for some interesting caching moments with the GPS jumping all over the place taking me in circles or getting the dreaded need a “clear view” of the sky message. I presume the higher end models this is less of an issue? Not that I can afford an upgrade, just curious. Thanks for the responses.
Peace
Thanks for the update Uncle_Fun

Spoke to one of the regional managers today and Sue Black is presenting the geocaching guidelines to the board next week. The website will be updated as soon as possible. She didn’t reveal any information, but I got a feeling we may not like what we get. Just a feeling that I got from the conversation. Lets hope it isn’t.
Uncle_FunDo you know if these meetings are conducted in the public arena or held begind closed doors? I realize I should have asked when I got the call from parks manager about the meeting but I didn’t. Be that as it may. I would maybe be interested in attending such a meeting if it is possible.

are you talking about the person that didn’t write a log in the book at the cache?
That could be. I looked at his profile and cache history and the cache in question was his 1st find, at least on that account name. If it is this one write and congratulate him on the find and extend a hand to answer any questions he may have.
If it was the drive up is it possible it was on a snowmobile? Looks like a public access area along that river or creek which may have a trail nearby.
If you are referring to the Milwaaukee Parks they said they would call me (and others on their list) when a policy has been put in place. I haven’t heard anything. The person I spoke with also said that the policy would be posted on the Milwaukee parks web site but I didn’t see anything new there when I looked earlier.
