Was it a cost thing, or a time thing? If it is a cost thing, then the answer is simple … sell them instead of giving them away. I don’t know what they cost, but I can’t imagine that there’s more than a buck or two in one. Sell them at cost, or there abouts. I’d pay a dollar or two … if I hadn’t already gotten one for free 😆

I agree, that is what I’m looking for. Who do I email?

    Greatest ever – hands down!

I didn’t think I’d be able to attend until the last minute when the wife said let’s go. Even being 41 weeks pregnant we cached through Pike Lake and ended up with 11 smileys for the day.

We had a great time and I now know who we met while doing the puzzle cache.

Looking online and I noticed that the 24k maps are split into chunks of the US. Wisconsin does not come with Minnesota or Iowa. Don’t we live in the midwest?

in reply to: Caching Burnout? #1949634

I have been going to college for most of my caching time, so in the winter I take a break. I miss out on some fun, but it has not gotten boring. I started caching because it connects the things I love most. The outdoors, hiking, biking and technology. I also solve puzzles for a living, always have. So caching is a win, win.

When I started there where not so many caches in town and they were full of information and fun. Now it seems there is a cache on every street corner with no history lesson or reason to exist except another 😀 . Don’t get me wrong, I like having a big day of numbers, but quality is better than quantity to me.

I’ll plan a trip to a cache that someone recommended, spend most of the day after that one, if I have time left I’ll go to the local town and clean up the rest of the caches if there is time. I always learn something or find a place in town that I didn’t know about. The reason I cache is to have fun.

    Cache on!

Has anyone ever bought a refurbished Garmin before?

in reply to: WTB Garmin 450t #1949195

Since nobody has a 450t for sale, has anyone seen any good deals on them anywhere? I was looking through Amazon, Gander, Cabelas, and REI. The best deal was around $393.00 with no shipping (Amazon). Most of them are around $430.00.

I know I saw the Garmin series a few months ago really cheap somewhere, can’t remember where? 😉

Thanks for any help! 😀 😀

Don’t forget a flashlight. I do alot of night caching because of my schedule during the day and a flashlight is a must. Sometimes I even use it during the day. We all know the hint ‘ghpxrq va’.

The Garmin cable may do the trick. If I use the Garmin cable with my cell phone I cannot access the SD card in my phone. Something is different with the wiring configuration in the Garmin cable.

    It’s worth a try?

I’m curious about the GX2 dual flashlight. I was thinking about buying it, but without testing in the dark, it’s alot of $$ to spend to find out it doesn’t do what I want.

Does it produce a straight beam of light or a washed out large beam? I want a light that is really bright that is focused over a long distance.

No wherigo? I wonder why they didn’t keep that feature? Maybe an update to get it? The only wherigo cache I have ever done was at the cache bash in West Bend last summer. I borrowed a gps.

Thanks everyone for all the input. I really want a touchscreen GPS. After using c:geo as my paperless tool I would love to have everything in the Garmin. The camera is a plus but I don’t need it. The bird’s eye view feature would be just awesome. I use this feature on c:geo all the time. I think Garmin was paying attention. I can’t wait to go to Cabela’s and check them out. Maybe a road trip to REI in Milwaukee! (I could do the ‘Create a Route’ feature and do caches all the way there along the Interstate, haha)

I have one more question. Whats the 3-way compass like? Does it still work when you’re standing still? Oh yeah, and what is it like in heavy cover?

Thanks again for all the help! 😀 😀 😀

I have been caching for three years and I always try to write about my adventure. I love amo cans in the woods that take a 2 hour hike. But if I’m on a bike trail picking up matchstick containers every 528 feet I usually just type one sentence. No adventure, no planning?

Should I type about my adventure to Home Depot’s parking lot skirt lifter?
    (I usually make some comment) 😀 😀 😀

I prefer caching in the woods, ammo cans!

Recently did a few days in Rochester, MN. Did many urban caches and had alot of fun with many different types of light poles and other devious hides in town. Found about 5 types of LP hides.
