Thanks for the information, I was indeed mistaken in what I thought were gypsy moth nests, I did think that these tent caterpillars needed to be wiped out. Oops. after hearing what you folks had to say I delved deeper into the issue a bit and found out I am supposed to live and let live with tent spiders. I will withhold my use of a “flame thrower” until I find the correct nests.
