I’ve been on a soccer board of 8-10 members for approaching 10 years now, working with a variety of personalities. It takes a lot of cooperation to plan a successful season for 1600 players, plus coaches and referees. It takes respectful conversations and dividing up the work so that talents can align with all the responsibilities that go along with planning each year.

I’m one that tends to sit back and listen a lot during meetings, but not afraid to speak up when I have new or different input to add to the topic at hand. Good communication and goals are important to keep a team moving.

I think communication from the WGA via Facebook and the more focused newsletters has been great. However, I feel the website itself could use some refreshing. It still holds a lot of good information, but some pages are no longer up to date.

There is currently some rotation of events around the state, but do agree with other comments that it would be nice to get another event further north.

In a volunteer run organization, I don’t know if term limits are as necessary as often it’s more likely to run into a scenario of finding enough volunteers to fill positions as there are concerns of someone staying on for too many terms.  Term limits does encourage new people to fill the roles to help with new ideas, but can also cause loss of someone with experience who still has interest in contributing.

Husband and I share our geocaching account, so if he could still request one…
