Thanks for the info, elfdoctors!!!! Your insight into tick related ailments has been very helpful!
Black circle hasn’t grown and is now purplish and doesn’t look nearly as “nasty” as on Sunday. I’ll take that as a good sign! I’ll keep watching it, though.
Just pulled one off the cat. Those buggers are everywhere!
Pulled 10 off of georunt #1 and 7 off of runt #2 plus 10 off myself on saturday, one of which was a deer tick that was embedded for maybe 4 hours. Hadn’t begun to draw blood.
On Sunday I noticed a dark purple circle, almost black about 1cm in diameter surrounded by a red circle about 1mm where I got bit. Is this normal? I’ve been bit numerous times, but have never seen a black circle like this. Wondering if I should be concerned at all. No other symptoms of Lyme but it’s only been about 48 hours.
Anyone out there know if a black circle like that is normal? Today it’s a little itchy.
I agree, TONS of ticks this year. I thought they started to diminish by now but so far I havn’t seen much of a letup.
I would agree that for a truly quality geocaching experience, cache the UP. Some absolutely FANTASTIC caches up there!
Guess I’ll weigh in as a member of the non-vocal majority. I am uncomfortable myself logging temp caches that do not appear on GC.COM, but that’s not to say it’s wrong, because the rules are set up to allow you to do it. If the founders who run the website think it’s wrong, then the rules will be changed.
It’s simply a matter of your own ethics. The rules also allow me to log my own caches as a find, and to log caches I have already found more than once. Ethically, I’m not comfortable doing any of these things, but other people may not find anything wrong with it.
In other words, it seems to me the game, aside from some common sense rules, is set up to basically play it as you like. Ethically, I’m also not comfortable criticizing others for the way they play a game where the rules are so open to interpretation. There’s no right or wrong answer. Play it as you want to play it until the rule makers tell you that you can’t.
Sure makes for a fun debate, though! A healthy constructive debate is what will spur action if it is indeed necessary.
What a great idea! I know Pattison SP and Copper Falls SP have camping plus very nice and Large picnic areas if it’s just a day event.
Congrats Zuma! I’m sure your next 4000 will be done as honorably and classy as the first. You are a true ambassador of our sport always offering a kind word for all cachers, vets or newbies. Keep up the great work on and off the cache trail!
I agree. If something were historically inaccurate on one of my cache pages, I would want to know about it…..tactfully of course. If I saw an egregious error on a page, I would probably not bring it up while logging the find, but perhaps send a seperate e-mail to the cache owner to point out the error.
Since Jen and I are firmly entrenched in the Stone Age, we probably wouldn’t use the GSAK file, but as long as we can go somewhere to view the descriptions and print them off ourselves somewhere, then it’s all good. I like the idea of having both the file and book available. I would think that for the sake of making it as user friendly for the general public who are new to geocaching, the whole book would make Alot of sense, and for those who are used to going paperless, the GSAK option would be pretty cool!
WOW, AWESOME looking coin, Robin! I’d say about 75% of the ones we are hiding will be loggable on GC.com. A few will definitely NOT fall within their guidelines. Our event caches will attempt to draw you to the surrounding area outside of Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Menomonie and show you what the rural part of the Chippewa Valley has to offer from it’s quaint villages to it’s wild countryside! Can’t wait to see that beautiful coin in person!
